With his contract up this summer a decision will have to be made. I personally think he'd do a good job as a player coach role. He has plenty of leadership and still has some capability but could do with less game time and therefore less pressure for him to perform

Still the best. And at least one more season in him in my opinion.

Still the best. And at least one more season in him in my opinion. Really? I absolutely tense up when he's got the ball, he purs me on edge. He's been a great servant to Town but guve him a coaching role, if indeed, that's what he wants.

I feel the poll is in slightly poor taste for such a great servant of the club. He deserves a bit more respect.

A massive 5 year contract for me, let’s see if we can get a record for the oldest ever outfield player.

I’m a huge Hogg fan, have been for years. What he’s done at our club is quite unbelievable, but the last couple of games are showing that we shouldn’t rely on him to start every single game.
He more than deserves a testimonial and wouldn’t it be a brilliant chance to get some players like Schindy, Heff, Kacha and others back?
I think a player coach role could work out well for him, like it did for Dean Whitehead (there was a shot of him and Hogg together in that Untratricted video on you tube)
Does anyone know if he even wants to get into coaching?

No brainer to retain
He’s experienced, loves the club, loyal and an outstanding pro who gets everything out of what he has
With a young squad you need Hogg around
He let himself down yesterday- and Hogg will be harder on himself than anyone else - but when he plays he still usually is one of our better performers
One of THE greats in my 30 years plus of watching town

Didn't let himself down yesterday he let his team mates down. Absolutely needless and blatant, any other player would have had their own thread and pelters for what he did it was childish. If he doesn't lash out we win the game in my opinion.
Been a great servant but it's time to move on and to say he's one of the best players everytime he plays is pushing it, he has the odd good game but plenty of bad ones now.
Time to let go and kick on if we're serious about being one of the better teams in this league.

I hope this thread isn't turned into a Hogg bashing.
Yesterday was a stupid mistake. But he is a club legend and every player gets to an age where they aren't good enough to start every single game.
He is still a very important player to the squad and will be for at least another season.

He probably knows himself, that physically, he won't be able to do another year at this level.

Had a good game at Watford. Lost it for a moment yesterday, and his teammates limited the damage. His best days are behind him, but he is exactly the player to bring on if you need to defend a lead by bolstering the midfield, at least for this season. Doesn't need a poll.

No idea what AB wants, and what Hogg would think about that.
From what I’ve read that holding midfielder role is one that’s very important to AB, and is a very demanding one as he prefers to play 1 there. A player who can collect, turn, pick a pass, AND mobile enough to cover the ground and carry when needed.
Time will tell if that’s what he has in mind for us, but if it is I could see us throwing a lot of money at that position if we stay up. And Hogg may have the option of being backup, but it’s anyone’s guess as to whether he’d want that.

Been a great player for us but if we are serious about progressing we need to move on from him. Would give him another 12 month contract but he should be used to see out games and help the younger players.

I feel the pool is in slightly poor taste for such a great servant of the club. He deserves a bit more respect. This. he had a bad day, but he deserves more respect really than a poll like this. hes 35 so will obviously be replaced soon enough. I doubt they'll extend his contract unless they feel his presence around the squad warrants it, which they may well do. But I think his long held position as practically the first name on the team sheet is over now.

For me we should look for a replacement in the summer but I'd still keep him on for another year as a bit part player at best because he still has some ability and great leadership skills but we could do with someone better on the ball especially if André wants to play the 3-1-4-2 that worked well for him in the past. Definitely deserves a testimonial whatever happens especially considering only Mally Brown has more appearances for the club in the past 50 years. A true club legend

I don't get the obsession, to be honest.
Why can't we just move on and sign a replacement?

I don't get the obsession, to be honest. Why can't we just move on and sign a replacement? The obsession? How about the fact that he has been consistently one of the best performers for almost the entirety of his time here, or the fact that he has been selected for the overwhelming majority of games, under every manager he has played for here.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that his best years are behind him, or that he may be in the twilight years of his career as a player here, but that doesn't mean folk need to be outright disrespectful about it.

It would be inhumane to make Hogg have 2 spells under Moore He’s got a massive mural seen by thousands walking and driving past everyday. He’s our Captain. The poll disrespects all of this, especially option 1.
