We’ve decided to sell lots of our Town programmes. The majority of them are home games, with a handful of away ones thrown in. Most in immaculate condition, a handful have slight damage (less than 5 in the whole collection).
Here’s a summary of what the collection contains:
1994-5 x13 1995-6 x31 1996-7 x24 1997-8 x25 1998-9 x27 1999-0 x25 2000-1 x26 2001-2 x2 2002-3 x2
Open to offers…

We’d never get rid ordinarily, but after 16 years married, we’ve finally decided to part with all the duplicates we’ve got from games we both went to before we got together!

The only money is in wartime programmes or 'big' games such as Finals or hugely significant games. With regard to HTAFC, the programmes worth big bucks are the pre-WW2 home games. Bizarrely, away games in that period are far more readily available. You'll only get peanuts (if anything) for the ones that you have listed, I'm afraid.

Was wondering Bassingham if say all programmes stopped getting made and it all went online would that shoot their value up any... Records went up quite a bit (I’ve still got a few and plenty cassetts as well and I’ve still got ma working VHS Video player that I enjoy watching The Final Whistle I & II on from time to time) ! Off topic - But there are great returns on The Islay Whisky Festival (Feis ile) bottlings and they often queue all night for to get their hands on them at the open days... For what it’s worth - I myself see whisky for drinking ! 🥃 😊

Part of the problem now is that since WW2 programmes have been manufactured in many thousands of copies so there are/were always plenty available for collectors. The really old ones of the 1920s, 30s - and much, much earlier for many clubs - were never printed in anything like huge numbers, hence their scarcity. There are already several clubs who no longer sell hard copy programmes, preferring to issue online 'magazines' as they are much cheaper. When this was first proposed several years ago I recall Dean Hoyle saying that programmes were essentially a vanity publication and that as far as Town are concerned they are a loss-maker every season. And let's not forget that just about everything in them can be read online anyway these days. The time most definitely will come when the club will stop printing them.

Actually less, as a chocolate teapot can at least be eaten. I don't think football programmes have any value unless they're at least 60 years old.

Yep. With paper and other ephemera, the stuff that is worth anything is often what was thrown away as worthless at the time. A lot of people hung onto their football programmes, which means that supply now outstrips demand by a long way.

Or if theres only a small number printed...early rounds of the sherpa van trophy, Leyland daf cup and its various guises are often wanted by collectors and completists, even then they aint going to allow you to retire.

In that case, if anyone fancies a trip down memory lane reading about the likes of Thomas Heary, Chris Holland and John Thorrington, happy to give them away.

I'll see your Sherpa Van Trophy and raise you with a Leyland Daf Cup. Talking of rubbish competitions, if anyone has a programme to the 1995 Yorkshire Electricity Cup Final, the last piece of "genuine" silverware Town won, I'd be happy to pay a couple of quid.
