Probably mentioned elsewhere, but Sheff Utd v Town from 1981 was on yesterday. Kindon's salvage job. Probably available on catch up if you want to see a proper Town team on a proper old school surface.

Thanks for the tip off. Great comeback by Kindo on a real old fashioned pudding of a pitch. Some great names from the past playing for us that day.

Kindon... one of our greatest post-war players. Helped drag us back from the depths of despair, very much a Hefele figure. I was there that day. Loved the Sheff Utd player in absolute agony over the touchline before we scored the first goal.
I remember a commentator on MotD talking about some player's charging run in some match I wasn't interested in and he said, "That was reminiscent of Steve Kindon when he played for Wolves... I don't know where he is now". He was at Town.
The story goes that we were offering to pay Kindon big bucks to sign, but he was dithering. The chairman (Keith Longbottom?) offered to also buy him a brand new VW Jetta which swung the deal.

Kindo brilliant but didn't drag us from the depths of despair!! we were in top two when he signed but what a statement that was. That and signing Joey Jones ( when he'd just got MOM against Scotland) best two statement signings of my youth.

Still remember Joey winking at away end at Grimsby after shithousing a goal kick.

Kindon. I’d seen him play many times on TV playing for Burnley and Wolves but I swear he played much better after he signed for us. He was a brute running forward with defenders bouncing off him. Think about it, how often do we ever sign a player that we’ve all heard about? Rarely if ever.
My favourite moment was in a home game v Barnsley when he was having a battle with Centre Half , Ian Evans . Evans was constantly fouling him and Kindon was getting no protection from the ref. Then, in a tussle near the touchline and on the ref’s blindside - Kindon sent Evans over the wall and into the main stand. As Evans lay across the top of the wall Kindon blows him a kiss!
Just a brilliant player for town.

Certainly one of my all time favourites, along with Frankie, Boothy and Marcus.
I gave him the nod when choosing my username 😉

Went on a footy train, lots of beer and a fantastic result. Looked like we’d a chance of back to back promotions but the next 2 away games (Burnley and Hull I think) put paid to that.

After the equaliser you could hear You'll Never Walk Alone being sung. What was that all about? A bit before my time so not sure if it was something we used to sing around that time
