That was a disgrace what the guy in the white car did to that town fan on Bradley Mills Road. If any witnesses are required I’ll put my name forward. Hope the elderly guy is ok as he took a massive knock to the head on the post after being shoulder charged in the back with no idea it was coming.Big gash to his head with blood everywhere and dazed. Disgraceful actions.

Poor guy who was pushed looked in a bad way. Plenty people saw the incident and were calling the police and ambulance.

I got there just after it happened. Heard that the driver jumped out of the car and pushed the old guy over. What was the reason he felt the need to jump out of his car and how was his car supposedly damaged ? Disgraceful behaviour

I walked past after it had all happened & looked like a group of guys were surrounding a lad, presumably the one who caused the incident with the injured guy nearby with others around him trying to sort him out. Heard people say an ambulance & police had been called. Hope the injured guy is ok

We walked past just after it had happened and plenty of very angry people about who had seen what had happened.

Your evidence might be the difference between the assailant getting away with it or getting convicted. After a conviction, there is also then the possibility of the victim being able to claim compensation.

We walked past not long after it had happened. It looked like a group of men were having a go at one man, possibly trying to stop him leaving. I thought I heard one of them say something like "you're not going anywhere", although I couldn't be entirely sure. We then saw the man on the ground - he had about 6 people with him so we couldn't see him clearly. I didn't feel we could add anything, the guy on the ground had people already helping him, so we got out of the way as quickly as we could.

Im surprised theres never been a serious incident on there either before or after a game ( if there hasnt) Its so tight and you get cars travelling in both directions and the people walking often step out into the road or just walk on the road.
Really should make it one way down the hill for an hour before a match and one way uphill for an hour after.

Really should make it one way down the hill for an hour before a match and one way uphill for an hour after. Agreed, said this for years. To be honest you've got to be pretty stupid to think going up the hill pre match, or down the hill post match is a good idea.

I know this is deviating from the topic, and I hope this gets sorted for the bloke involved. But this road has been a bit hairy for years. With the volume of traffic there’s no reason they couldn’t have put traffic lights on there and effectively made it a single lane road.

I know it's a road and, in theory, the cars have priority. But when there are so many people crossing that road you've got to be so careful. It's like driving past a school at kicking out time. The cars might have priority but you still have to be watching out for everyone. Funnily enough, as we left the ground yesterday I commented to my son about the fact that they let the Bradley Mills car park empty straightaway but they hold the St Andrews one back. I know that the volume of pedestrians is greater at the other end but it seems an accident waiting to happen. (I know, in this case, the driver hadn't come from the club car park.)

Go to a football match in your car and park up in the car parks or close by and you really should know whats coming after the game??? Her indoors picks us up in B&Q car park. Sometimes its quick to get away sometimes its not, we have no intention of knocking anyone over, or assaulting anyone crossing roads or walking in them. We accept we could be delayed. The roads around are crap for about 20/30 minutes or so after the game, if you live near, you know this, if you drive at silly speeds during this period you are a twat. Its once every couple of weeks and occasionally one saturday tea time and 10 o clock at night on the Tuesday, its not much of a minor inconvenience.?

That road up to Rawthorpe is horrible, at the best of times. It's too narrow and the drop off the left side, with just a flimsy fence, is scary.
It's best avoided, especially on match days.

I was across the road from the incident yesterday and saw an altercation between few men and then a guy on the floor. I thought he'd been knocked over and went over to help. There were already a couple of ladies with him ( 1st aider, prison officer and later on a lady Doctor) and I'm an ex fireman so helped out too. He'd a large gash to his head and general cuts n bruises but was conscious and fully aware of what had happened. We helped sit him up and stemmed the small amount of bleeding then waited for an ambulance to come just to check him over. The guy was called David and he didn't want any fuss - he was more worried about being delayed as he'd 150 miles to drive home. It was only whilst talking to David that I realised that he'd been pushed to the ground by the driver of the car and banged his head on the steel barrier!!! I genuinely thought he'd been run over. The guys who stopped and restrained the driver until the police arrived are the real heroes here. Luckily for the driver there was an off duty cop present or it would have turned nastier for him. Hopefully he'll make a speedy recovery.

The speed the cars fly down is ridiculous. The road is too narrow and every winter the potholes at the side of the road (pavement side) you could lose an African tribe in there they get so big, only for the council to put a bit of gunge in there for the following year to be "repaired " again

To be fair, that's the only way to Dalton from the Leeds Road area aside from a huge detour up Wakefield Road or on Dalton Bank Road via Colnbridge, so they won't make it one way.

But it’s been a ridiculous road for years and I’ve lost count the amount of times it comes up in conversation in relation to football games. The road isn’t made for 2 cars wide, it’s made for horse and cart. Even on a normal day it’s shit, I drive a van and I’m always hoping there isn’t another van or big car in opposite direction. Not for my sake, I don’t like making people anxious and if I’m coming downhill I can see cars nervously slowing down next the that ridiculous bit of fencing stopping cars plummeting down the banking. I still don’t know how no one has gone off there yet. That is the only thing that will change the current road system, someone dying. The road should be one way or traffic lights. It’s tough shit if it means going another route and it’s also tough if it means waiting at lights. And it shouldn’t even be open on match days, they close it when gigs are on.

My old man had to have his car rescued by a fire engine after he had to take a evasive action to let a car down the bank. He pulled over so far his wheels effectively came off the road. Unbelievable how there hasn’t been more serious incidents.

Probably sounded more dramatic than it was but point is it’s very easy to do and shows the road isn’t built for both ways even on non match days

I have only just seen this thread. Thanks for those who were worried about me. I was taken to HRI and examined and x rayed . Not too much damage fortunately . I clearly am not as agile as I once was as I thought I had time to cross the road and assumed the driver would slow down. The car caught its wing mirror on my arm as it passed. The next minute I’m on the floor! The man has admitted common assault and been given a Conditional Caution . He has to attend a course on violence and do 2 days unpaid work.

Well that is good news, thanks for the update. As others have said, cars come way too fast down that stretch of road and those leaving the car park should be made to wait til 5.15 and the crowds have dispersed before leaving, just leave the barrier down. How many times through the years have we as opposition fans been forced to wait in our cars at away grounds?

Recent changes to the Highway code change that; pedestrians already in the road have right of way/priority now. Although cars are also supposed to (but don't) stop (where safe to do so) when there's pedestrians waiting at a junction; it's not just on crossings anymore. Not that anyone ever pays much attention to the HC once they've passed their tests.

I go up this road daily, it always pisses me off how far over some cars drive. Going down, move over a bit and the worse case is you go up on the kerb, the car coming up can go over the edge! I was looking at the other day and after the houses, you could make it wider by digging into the land. Even then making a wide footpath for pedestrians to walk up/down. I did hear a rumour a certain person from across the pond is paying for it to be widened. Could all be bollocks though!

It is annoying when a vehicle coming down is about a foot from the kerb edge and won’t budge over, however the potholes going downhill are just pathetic. They must have filled them 5 times in last 2 years and they still look like a 12 year old has done it. Proper tyre poppers. It’s near on impossible to widen that road. You would have to widen it from the left, going downhill, which means once you get near the houses it would have to stay as it is. The retainer needed on the right hand side would just be a ridiculous amount of money, not to mention buying some of the land its on.

The problem is, there is always a few idiots who put their foot down and just don't care and i didn't see the incident but i saw the man on the floor. It has been a problem for years and it was the same on St Andrews road when fans have been hit by car5s so now they close the road until the fans have gone. I don't see the same happening on Bradley Mills Rd and going up to Rawthorpe is just terrible. The new stadium should never have been built there and if anything there was more parking at the Old Leeds Road. Glad the chap who was pushed over is ok and for the idiot who was driving like an idiot, slow down FFS.
