Can anyone remember a Town side that struggles as much as this one to pass the ball and make the right choices when in possession. We just continuously give it away for 90 minutes and it makes it impossible to get any foothold in the game.
You can tell from the way AB was speaking in the presser that he knows he's without the only few players we have who are decent on the ball (Rudoni, Balker, Nakayama) and has to find other solutions. God knows what those other solutions are though, didn't appear to be any tonight.

Surely the ability to trap a ball, cushion a pass and find a man with a simple, unobstructed pass should be a prerequisite for any professional footballer? Even under Wadsworth I recall us being able to pass to a man. It's bizarre.

The heavy touches many players had tonight under zero pressure actually made me laugh out loud a couple of times it was that bad. In so many games the ball breaks to us in midfield and we'll have a great chance of a break and whoever it is collecting the ball will either take a shite touch or over run it and lose possession. The inability to do the basics is amazing given we're watching Championship footballers.

It was in stark contrast to the Preston players who were mostly able to control a ball with relative ease. What style of football is the team suited to, then?

And yet we continue to try and play out from the keeper with players who are so utter crap at passing and trapping a ball. Incredible

Incredible We'd have more success playing Pearson and Helik up front and playing off their flick ons for 90 minutes. Just unfortunate we don't have any centre halves to fill in for them

It’s unbelievable that we are even saying it but it’s true. You could have the best coach in the world and even he would probably walk away shaking his head. The technical standards are abysmal.

Agree with this and was talked about on our way home. Even when they see and pick the right pass and they get the right line on it, then it is typically over/under hit. It is beyond belief

It is beyond belief Its not just our lads.....we brought in matos from chelsea and he cant pass water either - worst short range passing stats in the league. Spent more time on the floor than on his feet in last 4/5 games ive seen.

It's frightening and beyond belief that we are talking about basics of football, we are atrocious as a team, is it the players are trying too hard, lack of confidence, our manager is not blind, he must see what we see.

I think he will see exactly what we see. But technical ability can’t be coached it’s a basic requirement for championship footballers.

In league 2 I remember at Cardiff stadium Lee fowler passed it to a team mate and it went out on the full. We’ve got 10 players better than that team now but they’ve been very very poorly managed. Warnock showed they could be moulded into a team. Had Nagel not fucked up we’d be mid table now or better.

Warnock probably the greatest championship manager of all time, took the technical side out of it introducing a no fucking about element , the blokes a genius. But don’t be fooled don’t blame AB for not having the willy old head of a one off like Warnock. This team and the top brass that allowed this to happen are the reason we are where we are.

For most of our players, their second touch is a 50/50 tackle with an opponent.

Our season ended when Warnock was relieved of his duties and Moore was his replacement. Totally idiotic decision from someone/some persons who clearly, clearly, had absolutely no idea what they were doing.

Completely agree.
Unable to find a man with a simple pass. Half the time they do find a man, the pass isn't accurate or is having to be controlled with the thigh, chest, stomach.
The amount of interceptions Preston made last night must have been through the roof!
Then the final ball, or any crucial ball in the final third...99% of the time under-hit or over-hit by a country mile.
Summed it up for me last night...Sorba makes a great break in the first half, goes past a couple and then has the relatively simple task of playing Wiles in for a 1-on-1 or at least a shot/cross in a great position. But the pass is way off the mark by a mile. Preston get the ball back and within seconds we are defending 5 (or was it 6) back-to-back corners!
These are the fine margins that change games and we continually come up short.

Its not difficult to believe, ive been saying it for ages, our passing and ball control is that of a non league side. Someone on here shared a website that showed all the data about 6 months ago when i was moaning again about it. When you consider half our passes at sideways and backwards around the defence the stats mean that once we do go forward its about 50/50 if a pass goes from one town player to another.

If you’re 23rd in this category and 23rd in that category, it’s going to take a miracle not to be 23rd in the table.

It’s been this way since our 1st year back int championship.. There has been a gradual degradation of our squad since the premier league relegation season.. Even in that season we had ball players and good possession but a lack of quality upfront.. We should re-sign diakabhy.. He’d fit right in.. Shit forgot to do spaced out typing.. 😜😜
