We all hope the lad is ok of course, but it's not a good look for Town that our medical team pre-assessment passed him as fit (presumably) to take part in the trials ? Maybe they don't actually do an assessment at the trials stage..? I don't know. His poor parents will be frantic. There would have been no pre-assessment done by Town's medical team before the trial as such. One of his parents will have received an email with a link to a Medical Questionnaire which they will have had to submit ahead of the Trial. Asking about Allergies, Asthma, Any Medication he's on, Is the player under any current medical investigation, Undergone any surgeries etc, Concussions, Heart Disease, Chest pains etc during or after exercise, fainting during or after exercise, Heart palpitations, irregular heart beat, heart murmur, heart infection, EGC Tests, Family history of Heart conditions, Family history of death during exercise, family history of angina, heart pain under 50, Epilepsy, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, TB, Fainting or Dizziness, Fits, Hernia, Vertigo, Kidney problems etc etc....It's pretty extensive and without one of his parents completing it, the lad would not have been able to attend the trial. Wow, that's a LOT more than my mate had to do in 85/86 when he had trials at Southampton. All his parents had to do was get him to Southampton from Bulford (Wiltshire), no forms to fill in, no medical health checks, nothing official at all. He'd been spotted at an inter-schools tournament and got given a card (through the PE teacher) and that was it; just turn up with the card and get put through his paces.
