Air Ambulance with at least 2 ambulances and 2 first responders at Canalside tonight.
Obviously, we train double sessions but let’s hope whatever reason/whoever it was for there is nothing serious

Have no idea whether this post is genuine or an attempt at a sick joke!

Our injury problems this season probably warrants them to be on site when not responding to an emergency.

I don’t think Kenny will be trying to have a laugh at whatever the incident is… A bit of light hearted humour.

I don’t think Kenny will be trying to have a laugh at whatever the incident is… A bit of light hearted humour. Until we know why they are actually there, I don't think any form of joke is appropriate. Especially when posts got reported about female referees at the weekend, this could be far more serious. Fingers crossed it isn't, and it is for some form of charity gig or sponsorship for the YAA.

Looks like whoever it was, ended up being taken away in the road ambulance rather than the AA

Somebody has posted on Facebook to say that it was a young lad who was involved in the trials for the new under 15's. Apparently he had a seizure at the end of the game. Let's hope he's okay.

I was wondering if it might be something to do with an Academy trialist. Bloody horrible for the lad and also all the other kids and parents there.

Hope he's (not Wiles ) well and recovers and it's not detrimental to the rest of his life. I know from a family member that one seizure can lead to all sorts of other problems.

Apparently the lad in question was released from another local academy on medical grounds…. The word is that our academy physio pretty much saved his life. Good lad is Pat. This deserves shouting about

We all hope the lad is ok of course, but it's not a good look for Town that our medical team pre-assessment passed him as fit (presumably) to take part in the trials ? Maybe they don't actually do an assessment at the trials stage..? I don't know. His poor parents will be frantic.

Whilst we're quick to blame Town when we don't know the facts behind the incident yet do you really think that the club would do that and do you really think his parents would allow him to undergo more trials without having him fully checked out first or at least notify the club of his medical situation? If there is no protocol to follow and they weren't informed then I suggest the real blame should lie elsewhere but then we don't know the facts do we.

Sounds like Towns competency is what has saved his life.

If there is no protocol to follow and they weren't informed then I suggest the real blame should lie elsewhere but then we don't know the facts do we. From what i've heard, his father was there and was unbelievably blase about it. And after all that was done for the lad, no gratitude was forthcoming. Can't comment on the final sentence (and shock can result in non-normal behaviours), but the first bit is not THAT surprising...if he's a lad who has had episodes before. Speaking as the father of someone whose son had collapses every few months from age 16 to 18ish (and once since, 4 years down the line, whilst in the middle of being ill and rundown with something unrelated which would have exasperated it), after going through all sorts of tests with ok, but borderline results, and being given a final outcome of, "if it happens again we'll consider fitting a pacemaker, but his body is likely still growing out of it, and most likely will be fine" - you sort of get used to it. The worst thing to do would be to be NOT blasé, and panic around that situation when someone is in the middle of suffering a collapse or whatever it was, creating stress. And depending on the cause, they can happen to kids with ZERO impact on their athletic ability - during the time my lad was occasionally suffering, he would have been considered an elite athlete, number 1 in Yorkshire and probably top 10 in UK at his game, definitely fitter and pushing his body harder than lads of same age hoping to get into a pro football academy....and then he went to Uni and discovered the finer things in life! 🤣

Maybe they don't actually do an assessment at the trials stage..? I don't know. His poor parents will be frantic. There would have been no pre-assessment done by Town's medical team before the trial as such. One of his parents will have received an email with a link to a Medical Questionnaire which they will have had to submit ahead of the Trial. Asking about Allergies, Asthma, Any Medication he's on, Is the player under any current medical investigation, Undergone any surgeries etc, Concussions, Heart Disease, Chest pains etc during or after exercise, fainting during or after exercise, Heart palpitations, irregular heart beat, heart murmur, heart infection, EGC Tests, Family history of Heart conditions, Family history of death during exercise, family history of angina, heart pain under 50, Epilepsy, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, TB, Fainting or Dizziness, Fits, Hernia, Vertigo, Kidney problems etc etc....It's pretty extensive and without one of his parents completing it, the lad would not have been able to attend the trial.
