I'm encouraged by the speed of the appointment and that it is entirely credible for League One.
I now want to see some coherence and leadership to change the rotten mindset.
It's a very important close season and a real opportunity to go in a new direction.
As captain says above start winning games of football and the mood will change very quickly.
A,small, step in the right direction.

I think it totally exposes the depth of the damage done since our chaotic exit from the PL.
Everybody knows the events of the past 5 years so no need for me to repeat them, but if ever there was a lesson on what NOT to do ,Town are that example.
Hopefully KN will provide the long term stability we desperately need.

I'm considering doing other things. Life isn't all football. For me We need leadership. We need some pretty solid investment in the playing squad. We need to jettison the dead wood that got us here in the first place. We need something as fans to get behind.
I'm totally in a position where I could walk away without missing football. What has happened to our club over the past 5 years has been a travesty of self inflicted pain by those in charge of the club whoever they have been. It's as if someone made the decision to rip up everything that makes our club great. The downward spiral began in the greed league and has continued unchecked since.
Various custodians of our club have utterly failed to address the decline of all aspects of the club up to now, do we all believe things are going to change?
Our fans deserve success. All the awards for off the pitch stuff are nice but Football has to be the barometer we are judged on. Winning football games.
I hope Town under Kevin prove me wrong. This club needs solid leadership and someone in charge who is hands on and has the personality to drive us forward.

Personally, I believe we all want to see the top teams and players. But as a fan, I just want to see my team competing.
My most entertaining seasons were under LC. Yes we failed twice V Millwall and then at OT V Peterborough. But Roberts and Pilks down the wings;Rhodes, Novak and Robinson rotating pairs.
Lion heart in Peter Clarke. Emergence of Jack Hunt.
We had a team that was entertaining to watch home and away.
If we can hit them levels again, then it won't be bad at all.
I'm really excited for the new season.

I’m sitting here eating my porridge and purely by coincidence “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore” is on the radio while I browse the Wikipedia entry on Christopher Schindler. Like the opening scene to a Romcom that’s turned into a tragedy. Now it’s “You Can’t Hurry Love” - “How long must I wait how much mor can I take” Think I need to go for a walk. More imprtant that the shitshow that is HTFC - What kind of porridge was it ? - I feel a poll coming on "fave flavoured porridge type" - hmmmmm

Only a miserable git would do something like that, especially during the summer break.

Relegation without a fight, already on to his 4th full time manager and two absolutely abysmal transfer windows. The second of which was relatively expensive and didn’t fill the gaps we so desperately needed plugging. Duff is a solid unspectacular appointment, need to get him the players he needs to play his football and not yet more punts or injury prone players from Cartwrights ‘little black book’.

I think some fans need to allow themselves to tune out for a bit when things are getting them down with the club. It may sound melodramatic but for our own mental health it’s good to take a break if it’s needed.
I’ve lived away for 14 years now and one thing I’ve learnt to love from the Aussies is if they’re losing they just mentally (and literally) switch off. Used to REALLY bug me during the Ashes 😄.
Over time though I’ve come around to it. I would say there’s a British culture of needing to suffer the lows, but life’s too short to let it all get you down.

Also given the lack of anything exciting just been looking up various ancestors on ancestry.com - rag grinders, warehousemen and horse handlers of Dewsbury and Batley. Proud heritage. Making la living out of shoddy. Similar to 99% of Town folk I’m sure. That’s what this club’s heritage is about for all the fancy dans and big money investment talk.

I looked late last night, and then I comed through the list of threads this morning, both under Talk of the Town, and also Off Topic since I reasoned that it may have been moved there.
Just looked again, still can't see it. Perhaps it's a browser cache issue, but definitely not seeing it. Apologies if I am wrong.

I’ve extensively researched my family tree. On my mother’s side we are distantly related to the Taylor family, the all-powerful mill owners in the Heavy Woollen District from the late 19th and 20th centuries. I’ve come across probate records for some of them in excess of £900k from before the 1920’s; imagine what they would equate to nowadays.

Good to be able to see this history though. I’ve got an Edwardian era photo from the goods yard at Dewsbury station with my great grandad in charge of the stablehands and some fine looking horses. Buried with his wife in Mirfield Parish Churchyard.

There are many reprobates, criminals, victims of industrial and domestic tragedies and, of course, pauper residents of workhouses and mental institutions on my tree as well! The odd famous person as well including Douglas Adams, author of Hitchikers guide to the galaxy. It’s a fascinating hobby.

Maybe the shambles during the transition period just highlights how bad things were that he inherited?. I've not researched KNs business history but he does seem to have been rather successful, including at Sacramento.

Seems to me like DH (or was it Baldwin) may have underplayed what it takes to run an English football club when it was proposed to KN. I certainly don't think he realised how much of a shitshow we were but was that naivety or bad advice or a bit of both? I'm really (REALLY) hoping he's a good long-term owner (or dynasty after he's popped his clogs) and doesn't turn out to be another Rubbery or PH.

I think KN will do ok tbh, he's stuck with Sacramento for some years despite not achieving his goals as yet..

Whatever happens I’ll always support town and get to as many games as I can.
Criticise - yes.
But we have to hope that this summer changes that football curve.
If not - then I will be as critical as always. I genuinely hope I’m Not.

You may change your mind if the recruitment seems good Due to my mobility problems after recent operation it wouldn't be viable for me to purchase a season card plus living in Bradford now i wouldn't beable to make night games. I took lad to last game v Brum as he was born in 2010 and he had a season ticket from 2014 until a couple of years ago until his kick off times altered as he plays RL now, the club did the correct thing freezing prices but if I was purchasing i would have paid 299 for 2025 which ever division club was in, you cannot beat live sport over TV, ive just fallen out with the modern game and the over pampered way these modern players strutt around and think they are film stars. TV will now be controlling the bottom 2 leagues even more now with the new deal. Exiles will be forced out of attending live games due to stupid kick off times and last minute changes towards the end of the season if Town are challenging for promotion, it certainly makes you weigh up your options when deciding whether to commit to purchasing a season ticket however good value they are

Fell out with town a bit ever since cowley rimmed bielsa just before Covid. Then we couldn’t go and I never enjoyed Carlos boring football. And since then it’s been even worse. Can never give up on us obviously but sometimes feel like we are taken for granted. Looking forward to next season already though, hopefully be a nice change and different teams to play
