Has anyone done these tours to Austria previously? I'm possibly thinking of going for a few days and looking at flights to Munich Anyone got any advice? Flights used before, accommodation, best place to stay etc. Yeah flew into Munich and rented a car, think town are staying near worgl this time so you could also if you didn’t fancy the drive get a train from Munich hauptbahnhof to worgl which takes around hour

Flights used before, accommodation, best place to stay etc. Flights from Manchester to Munich and back are generally at decent times flying with sleazyjet, a return train fare from Munich Airport to somewhere like Wörgl is around £40 return, you can book it yourself directly on the DB (Deutsche Bahn) website. There isn't a train station at Bad Häring itself but Wörgl and Kirchbichl do and have buses to and from Bad Häring or you could stay at Westendorf, Brixen I'm Thale or Kirchberg and travel on the train, certain hotels/properties provide a local travel card that lets you use the local yellow buses and regional trains for free and it covers from Wörgl to Kitzbuhel

Has anyone flown to Innsbruck or Salzburg instead of Munich ? Jet2 fly from Manc to Innsbruck direct on Saturdays I think ? Both are served by frequent trains to the region Town will be based. Also, for anyone wanting to combine hiking or a city break with the football, Innsbruck and Salzburg are really lovely places. If you hire a car or are willing to take public transport, you’ll be within touching distance of some of Europe’s best views, hikes, and lakes to swim in. Other side of Innsbruck you’re heading towards Bodensee (Lake Constance in English) which is also lovely.

Yeah just had a look myself seems it’s abit expensive from most southern German airports but isometimes it does get cheaper around about a month before the date you’re looking at.

Would anybody be kind enough to share their travel/accommodation itineraries for their trip? Obviously trying to do it as cost effectively as possible. DM if that's your preference.
I see there is a direct flight with Jet 2 from Manchester to Innsbruck on Sat. 20th but I'd need to be coming back on Friday 26th and this looks like a 10 hr 2 stop return via Vienna and Frankfurt.
Thanks very much in advance.

I think everyone is doing their own thing, I guess it all depends on which is your nearest airport and how will you get there etc, you could maybe fly to Innsbruck from Manchester but then fly back from Munich, there are plenty of trains available from both, you can book direct on this website, even for journeys within Austria: int.bahn.de/en as for where to stay there isn't a train station at Bad Häring but there is to Kirchbichl and Wörgl which both have bus services to Bad Häring or you could stay further afield at Jenbach, Westendorf, Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg or Kitzbühel, chances are Town will be playing their friendlies in one or more of those towns.

Thanks, much appreciated but this is the reason I don't travel outside the UK. So many different ways of doing it (Manchester more convenient but more expensive compared to Luton or Stansted but then when you factor in car stay and getting there), all of which seem to me expensive and a ball ache (albeit I must be stuck in the 80's when it comes to how much things cost), it just makes my head implode and I toss the towel in and book a Youth Hostel/campsite in the Lakes. And yet, paradoxically, I would have paid a little bit more to renew my season ticket.

Flights used before, accommodation, best place to stay etc. Yes I have been before and had a great time. Make sure to get up to the mountains and book a few days pasd to ride on the chair lifts. Pack some swimming shorts. They have lakes up the mountains that are beautiful to swim in, all safe and encouraged by the locals. We've got some fine walks and hills in Huddersfield surrounding areas but Austria is on another level. I don’t think I'll be able to go this time but feeling jealous reading about others who've booked. You'll have a great time!!

Wouldn’t it be better to wait planning until the match itinerary is published?

I am absolutely with you; it's not the cost for me; it's all the hassle involved in planning the itinery and then the hassle of getting there!! One of my friends loves this sort of thing; she'll happily spend hours with websites and spreadsheets planning the cheapest and most efficient itinery!!

Wonder if we will be playing Austrian sides or if it’ll be teams from different countries touring in Austria too Think it works out which teams just happen to have their training camps nearby around the same time, i.e it was Leipzig, Bologna back in 2018. This year, the German champions, Bayer Leverkusen, are just down the road from us between the 23rd and end of July, so they might be one of our friendlies

Unless they play their U21s/B Team/Ladies to give us a chance?
