I’m going with smash it… we are going to be undefeated after 8 games. I’ll have what you’re drinking…..!!!! Just on the water tonight 😉 Personally I think we are going to get a win away today, the same type that surprised us when we went to Palace in the prem. It’s going to lift the club and that will give us momentum into 3 very winnable games. Momentum will carry us through the big games and we’ll be undefeated after 8. Getting Marshall in has convinced me that we are going to continue to make the right moves in the transfer market. That one relieves the immediate pressure and allows us to hit our big targets now.

Im feeling very positive about Duff, his pressers before and after the game are brutally honest, he reminds me very much of Mick Buxton. No one but no one is going to get a free ride with him in charge, makings of a town legend in my eyes so far

I think Duff is the real deal. It’s exactly what the club needed, he’s starting to change the attitude of players, the JK interview was a hint to what is taking place in the dressing room and fans are very quickly getting onboard. I think he’s league one’s answer to Ange Postecoglou and we are on for a very special season under Duff.

As usual, agree with the vast majority of what you say but I'll disagree with the highlighted bit, I think he already has changed the attitude. We had very little fight left in us when he took over & our confidence was lower than a snake's belly. Now I think he's got them thinking that they are a squad of Championship players currently stuck in L1 but actually determined they will get up this season.[ To me, they are playing like a team who trusts the manager & his methods & who goes out expecting to win every game. This can be an issue, as per yesterday, when we clearly settled for 2-0 & lost momentum, thus allowing Stevenage back into the game. Contrast this to lat week, when the most pleasing part of the game for me was the 1st 15 minutes of the 2nd half when we knocked the stuffing out of Posh by carrying on playing. I hope yesterday will be a valuable lesson to the players, we can't afford to switch off at 2-0. Two other things that stood out to me yesterday were that we can cope with physical teams but we are taking our chances like a L1 team & not a Championship team, which means we are still short in the striking department.

Very early days and we will have a bad spell at some point under him but I like in general that he doesn’t bullshit and calls it like it is.

Like a few others have said, I didn't want Duff the first time round - thought he was a safe, out-of-work, easy option. Probably mates with Cartwright too.
So far though, I'm very pleasantly surprised. Talks incredibly well and I trust his 'process' far more our previous 4-5 managers.
He has a plan and it's evident, and even if Stevenage had caught us out yesterday and come back, I trust we'd have learnt from it next week.

Two other things that stood out to me yesterday were that we can cope with physical teams but we are taking our chances like a L1 team & not a Championship team, which means we are still short in the striking department. I agree with most of what you are saying but I believe we are still only at the start of the change in attitude. To switch off and revert to playing like last season to me is evidence that they are still in a very early stage of attitude adjustments towards being the dominant team of not only the game, but the league. Duff expects them to win and to win well, not just this game but the whole league. Thought that was evident by the after match interviews and I like where Duff is going with this. We as fans are expecting a lot too, but to be a top team you have to start somewhere and I don’t think for one minute that we aren’t still early on in our attitude adjustment. It’s one thing to say my attitude has changed, but it’s entirely different to having doubts or moments when you think to yourself I’m not good enough or here we go again. It’s all about belief, we are 2 games into the league and I won’t believe we are past the start until they get to 8-10 games when they will have gained belief in beating everything put in front of us. Once we beat Birmingham (or whoever is the closest challenger) only then will we have total belief that we are going to be the dominant team. Naturally some would be more advanced in attitude changes than others. I agree with almost everything you’ve said, especially the comments about the second half, except we can’t get ahead of ourselves and we are still early on in this project and attitude changes.

Up to and including Wrexham away we have a tough start of away games. Peterborough, Rotherham, Bolton, Reading, Birmingham, Orient, Wrexham. Home games look much easier. I’d expect near maximum points from home games and couple of draws, wins and losses away. No idea how this season is going to pan out but surely we have to win at least half (23) of our games as a minimum. Our tough run of away games so far is 2 wins out of 3. That and winning at home is a sign of a promotion winning team. On we go.

He's definitely a cut above the last few managers we've had, and it's quite reassuring that he's mostly not afraid to criticise when criticism is due.
We now seem to have a system that you can see the players are trying to work to. But we're not so rigid that we can't go long when we need. I enjoyed Nicholls putting his foot through it a few times when Bolton would have tried to play their way out from a very dangerous position.
Although things haven't always gone to plan, I'm fairly confident we'll look better by game 20 than we did in game two. That said, we'd probably have about half as many points as we have now had we turned in the same performances in the Championship. It's way less forgiving than League One, and I think there's a pretty big gap in general quality between the two divisions.

Totally agree with Duff - i think he gets this club. He realises there was a disconnect between fans and players and hes trying to rebuild it fast. Ups and downs await im sure - but hes level headed and hasnt said stuff in a presser thats made me think "he watched a different game". We have a good squad for this level and top 6 has to be a minimum target cos from what ive seen there aint that much real quality we are up against week in week out. Two winnable home games await in the next 10 days.......a real chance to make a good start become an outstanding one!

I was going to mention that too. However I suppose you have to factor in all the shit that’s going off pitch level.Evans and his staff are well known for been in the ear of the ref constantly as are his players.Maybe duff thought we stood up to that fairly well right up to the ward red. We also have to factor in that sometimes what managers say in the media is as much for the players as it is anyone else. If we were to go on a 4/5 game streak of bad results and he consistently at odds with what the fans saw then I’d be less likely to make a couple of minor excuses

We have won 2 away games which most people would have been happy with, a point at Peterborough and a point at Bolton. What I admire about MD is he will keep his players fully focused and keep their feet on the ground and remain humble in front of the press.

These next 2 weeks could be huge.
5 games.
Northampton H Blackpool H Reading A Birmingham A Barnsley H
I'd take 3 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat. That would have us with 7 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats from our first 10. A very good start.

Not that it matters was just something that occurred to me.
