Think Binnsy's memory is playing tricks on him, the Sheffield United game after the Pompey game, only attracted a paltry 4416.

Had moved to the other end of the country by then, so all this detail is news to me. George must be 90 plus now I think, looking well.

Jeez, George Binns seemed to be an OAP when I started watching Town in the early 80s.
He must be 110 years old now 😁

I also seem to remember how important he felt to be when I was a kid - certainly more so than the chairman. Sure his facsimile of a signature was across loads of stuff.

Always had a good ganzie game did George (looks barely much older than 30 years ago).

Whenever I see overhead shots of the old ground, it always feels like the centre circle plaque in the retail park is in the wrong place. It feels like it is too close to B&Q compared to the overhead shots which make it appear much closer to Bradley Mills Road

George Binns is & always will be Mr Huddersfield Town to me & some of the older ones, when you went to the old ground to renew your season ticket a lot of the times it was GB who came out to see you in reception & personally show his appreciation for your support of Town when signing the receipt......A top,top bloke in his nineties (?) & lives in Moldgreen (or used too).

I met George briefly in the hospitality lounge back in January. I was in there with all the 1974 youth team players, and he'd come down especially to say hello to them all. He remembered them all, and they all referred to him as "Mr. Binns". Peter Hart relayed a funny story about how Binns had pranged his car in the car park, and Binns had paid for the damage. Hart had never told him that he'd already done most of the damage himself in an earlier incident! Had a brief conversation with him about his early days watching Town and he'd started going in about 1943? So I said that he'd remember my mate Graham Bailey playing for Town and he said he remembered him and actually named the full team from that era. Fascinating fella and I look forward to listening to the interview.

Think the first one is the 70s, second one is 1989, where they were discussing the controversial membership card system with Graham Riddick MP.

Lump in throat, prickly eyes and goosebumps Caught a quick glimpse of me coming out of Popular Terrace (opposite the posh stand) onto the pitch but you'd need good eyesight and know that I haven't ALWAYS had long hair, tatts and a beard

There is an interview of George Binns by Boothy on youtube now about how the move from Leeds Road came about, sorry can't link it on my phone. I watched that last night, it's superb. If you read his preface to the 1983 book. He mentions that in the future there will be multi sport, leisure hubs operating out of the grounds of football clubs. So I'd suggest they were thinking about it prior to 1985. It was interesting that he implied Town and Millwall worked together to get the funding model changed.

Think Binnsy's memory is playing tricks on him, the Sheffield United game after the Pompey game, only attracted a paltry 4416. Yes it was Portsmouth going for promotion. I think there were probably more than 4000. As the attendances at the time where suspicious. For instance 10000 Portsmouth fans came for the previous game. Yet the attendance was only 13000.

There was nowhere near 10k Portsmouth, it was a predicted guess. They could have them crammed them all in the open end, probably nearer 7500 with about 5500 Town fans which was fairly normal at that time.. The crowds were far more accurate then than now.
