Reports other clubs are looking at Lee. Can't say I'm bothered if he goes. We had a few good seasons out of him, but in my opinion his performance has gone down dramatically. Am I wrong?

Can probably afford to lose him, Maxwell as number one with chapman back up is fine for league one

I'm sure someone posted towards the end of the season, that they were expecting Nicholls to leave this summer 'for personal reasons'.

I've read a few reports recently and they are saying Swansea are interested. They need a goalkeeper and have just lost out on Carl Rushworth to Ipswich so are now looking at getting Nicholls.

Don't get taken in! I realise that, but it was a strange thing to post at the time. The more obvious post would have been to say he was pissed off, for whatever reason. From what I remember it was also posted by someone 'sensible'.

Don’t know why, I’m pretty sure Nicholls had the worst save percentage in the league last season. That near post has become a real issue, not to mention his kicking which I think maxwell is better at.

No weak areas needed.
Compromise and there will be a cost.
Plenty of cup games for a number 2. Town have one chance to get out of the division before becoming an established League One club and having to suffer everything that goes with it.
One good chance. Time to deliver.

Would like to retain Lee.
The best chance we’ve got of going up if he’s between the pegs.
Would say if Clem had been here all last season, Lee would probably find it more difficult to depart. Instead he’s had about 5 x gk coaches in 12 months and a sh1t show of a season.
In a squad with plenty of weak mentality, I think Lee is big for the changing room as a leader.
Thought Lee hd a house build in Hudds and settled. Hopefully he will stay

That near post has become a real issue, not to mention his kicking which I think maxwell is better at. He wasn’t great. But we had three managers last season and none of them preferred Maxwell. Got to be careful just thinking we can weaken the team and expect to be pushing for promotion.

Sell him. Maxwell is more than capable in this league...

Happy if he stays, not bothered if he leaves. Of all the positions I think keeper is the one where it's easiest to replace at least at par.

He lost a bit of confidence last season, obviously disrupted by injury, but I thought Maxwell was more than OK those few games he deputised.
As many have said, if he goes I think we’ll be OK in this position.
A shame in some respects, because when LN is on it, he’s a superb team player.
Wish him well if he does offski, as long as it’s not to another L1 club and he ends up saving our first penalty for about eight years…

That near post has become a real issue, not to mention his kicking which I think maxwell is better at. In terms of Save% for Shots on Target, he was ranked 27 out of the 30 keepers who played the most games in the Championship last season...the three below him all played 18 games so presumably were second choice (for example Ben Wilson at Coventry, whereas Bradley Collins of Coventry was the BEST ranked keeper on Save%). Maxwell doesnt play enough games to be on the chart, but if you unclick the "Hide Non Qualifiers", you can see he would be ranked much higher, saving 10% more of the shots on target he faced compared to Nicholls last season. fbref.com/en/comps/10/keepers/Championship-Stats#all_stats_keeperFor Nicholls, that is down from 8th on the same stat in the previous season, which was down from a 3rd place rank in the 21/22 play off season.

Nicholls has had 2 average at best seasons now. He has made far more mistakes and his kicking has gone to pot. If the Nicholls of this year was in net in 21/22 we wouldn't have made the play-offs. He was brilliant that year but isn't close to that level now.
So the question is, was that the one off or is his lacking confidence in a poor run of form? On current form I don't think he'd be a big loss.

Impossible to argue against the fact that he lost form. But how is this surprising given the instability and chaos happening all around him? I’d prefer to remember how when full of confidence, Nicholls was the influential leader of our defence. Constantly organising and motivating his team mates. He had no issues then with his distribution or ability to make some remarkable saves. It’s not that long ago that this forum was full of banter regarding his superb time wasting abilities. I’d prefer to hold on to him and am convinced that if the club can at last, rid itself of the recent turmoil, he’ll very quickly be back to his best.

He's had a great start to the season. He's back to producing the top draw saves that keep us in matches.
He won't be happy conceding at his near post yesterday, but all in all, it's like we've got the old Nicholl's back IMHO
I'm sure having stability within the GK setup will contribute massively.
