I'm a little more cautious. Healey has only played managed more than 30 games a season twice in a 14 year career. For context Danny Ward has played more than 30 games in 5 of the last 14 seasons.

A bit of caution is sensible. As you say, he has struggled to play large numbers of games. But when he has played, he's scored goals consistently. 98 career goals, plus 20 assists, in 14,057 career minutes - a goal contribution every 120 minutes; a goal every 144. When fit (his problem!) he's formidable. This is where having options is going to come in, so we don't over-play him. Assuming we bring in Alfie May, our striking options will be May, Healey, Radulovic, Harratt, Simpson, Hudlin. Hopefully we'll be streamlining that a little, but we could still do with one more option if we're going two up top. May and Healey may rotate; they're similar sorts of player. So who do they play with? I think we'll need an old-fashioned target man, a grizzled old head who can soak up a beating and create space, occupying defenders to create space, if we're to have a really effective strike force.

Didn't we pay £2m for Healey? If so, it must go down as one of the worst buys in our history, especially as Watford got him on a free. That's an incredible claim.

With Rhys I think that it is safe to say that we don't know what we have and we won't know until he his fit.

I like him. He’s got character imo. What the hell he was doing in midfield I’ll never know. Maybe he’d upset Andre. Who knows.
Anyway, injuries are clearly the biggest concern but if he can have a good season he could be a key player in a our promotion drive.

Andy Carroll I had actually thought of Charlie Wyke, but Carroll also fits the description - if he's fit.

If that is what people really think then shame on you. Yes the lad has/had serious injuries which must piss him off, had he not he wouldn’t be towns price range. From what I saw last season he is more than capable of playing in the championship and could be a star in L1. Get behind the lad, please, I am sure he is more frustrated than we are!

Be great to see him getting back to the form he clearly can achieve..
If we sign Alfie May we would, as it stands, have a stellar strike force for L1!!!!

Duff says he felt his groin in training and better to lose him for one game rather than many.
The worry for me is that it is the same injury as last season so clearly something isn't right there and it is likely going to keep happening until they find the fix (surgery?)
I'll be amazed if we get 30 games out of him

I hope we don’t live to regret not being priced out of May, yes it’s early doors but he’s now 2 from 2. Could well end up flopping but gut instinct tells me he won’t.

Regardless what happens with May, I believe we made the best decision. Having one player on £20k+ a week and likely double the rest of the team does not create a strong bond Duff is trying to instil, which is what we needed after last season. To add to that, the risk of paying that much knowing he could get injured just doesn’t seem a smart business decision. Where I do think it will be a huge fuck up is if we miss out on Taylor. We are clearly playing the waiting game with confidence he will come to us, if he was to go elsewhere or stay put then that’s very poor planning

Hopefully nothing serious, he may have wondered if he was starting against Stevenage having sat out the 90 minutes on the bench Tuesday night......Looks like he probably would have too with him being the only change to Peterborough.

If I was the chairman I’d have never sanctioned the Healey move but now that we have I’d plan on using him sparingly as he’s so injury prone. I would expect Marshall to start the next one. I’d be buying another centre forward and another centre back too.

Course you’d say that. We’ve won 3 games on the bounce and things generally looking a lot more optimistic yet every post you’ve made has been negative.

I’m sure we’d have preferred to have signed May but the price went ludicrous - nothing to regret there in what the club did, sometimes in life the price goes too high and you need to accept it can’t happen.

There has only one point I have been negative about and I have been banging on about it for years. We have been calling out for a decent striker for years and our current ownership seem to have fallen in to same half hearted, we can muddle through with what we have attitude. It would be a crying shame to get so far and fail to finish up with a nearly team and have to do it all again next season. With a bit more care and planning last January we would not be in League 1 now.

I've said for a while our striker situation is a strange one.
Hudlin and Phillips are highly unlikely to make it here, so move them on with our best wishes. Other than that though, we have: Ward Healey Harratt Koroma Radulovic Marshall Jones
7 options, each of which we can have reason for optimism, and reason for pessimism. In Healey's case the main reason for pessimism is his injury record.
We might have 7 really great options for our forward line. Or we might have none.
If the aim was just consolation - with a hope of a promotion push then I'd be happy with our striking options as they are. If we're going for the expectation of a serious promotion tilt though, we need another in the building.
