I know this will not be popular but I loved watching Gabriel Batistuta, his movement, strength, power & finishing ability made him a superb player.

John Marie Paff, Jan Culiemans (when aged ten and just getting intested in Football and I think they were Belgian Euro Champions 1980)...
Zoff, Jennings, Clemence, Lewis Arconada, Nery Pumpido, Renat Dassev (1982 World Cup and I played in goals then)...
Rossi, Platini, Boniek, Platini, Rummineggua, Maradona, Cos they were good -
And need to mention Brazil 82’ - Valdar Perez, Oscar, Junior, Socrates, Eder, Falcow, Zico... (Oh and mustn’t forget Dave Narey 🏴 For the short time he had us in the lead v the Sambos with that brilliant strike) ! 😉

Lopez Ufarte.
Highly amusing for schoolboys in the late '70s/early '80s.
A few I remember from Peru's Jock-Conquering squad of 1978: Teofilo Cubillas Ramon Quiroga Hector Chumpitaz
Pannini sticker books had a lot to do with virtually encyclopaedic knowledge of lesser known footballers back in those simpler times.

Nastikov, Chestikov and Tiklikov - famous half-back line for Bulgaria in the 1930s. Honest!

Beckenbauer, Overath, Seeler, Haller, Emmerich... Müller... Eusebio, Pele, Garrincha, Tostao, Rivelino, Zico (the Brazilian, not the one who masqueraded as a player on Town's books)
And then the entire England team, of which there is only Sir Geoff Hurst extant.
Great players all.

Obviously he won't have been as good as the real Zico but he was supposedly well thought of before we bought him as a marketing exercise. I wonder how many shirts we sold in Thailand? This was the last news I saw of him, wonder if Convictatthemac watched? www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/watch-former-huddersfield-town-man-12179726

If my memory serves me correctly, the pitch was quite slow and sticky, seemed fairly thick grass which seemed to upset our rhythm. What I don’t remember is if I knew he was ex-Town or not.

Georghe Hagi and Ilie Dumitrescu were both great for Romania in USA 94. In the same WC were Stoichkov and Letchkov for Bulgaria.
Iran had this guy called (i think) Mahdivikia who scored what sticks in my head as one of the greatest World Cup goals ever in USA 94, but you rarely see it on highlights clips.
On the amusing names side of things, Stefan Kuntz is hard to beat.
