I hope we do. I really do. But Spain have been the best side in the tournament and consistently played good football against good teams. They can move you round or get in behind. That isn't to say we can't, but I think it's Spain 65%, England 35% at the moment.

I think we win. No way will Spain be allowed swagger around like they have been doing. Our bench will be key again

Would be brilliant for Southgate. He's had so much criticism, a lot of it justified for sure, and I've taken part in it all too, but what a way for him to bow out with a trophy. Would love to see it.

So long as he does bow out, whether he wins it or not. I'd like to see what a more proactive, attack-minded coach can do with this squad, only then can we see how good Southgate has been.

Spain are very much better than us, but you never know on the day. One mistake. One moment of brilliance. One VAR decision. One sending off.
I just hope Southgate relaxes the shackles a bit. Let them play more.

I think Spain may have the best team but their overall squad is weaker than ours. We have more options to change it when needed. Midfield is going to be key imo. Rodri ran the show v France so we need to stop him from dictating the play.

I have been saying from the beginning of the tournament it all depends on ability for about 40% with luck at 60% if you want to win a competition. England have had their fair share of good luck: easy half of the draw; equalising in injury time; handed a penalty when it looked unlikely. England can win the final no doubt and without luck as they have ridden it yet are an excellent international side. The sides that get better as the competition progresses are the ones to watch. Remember Italy in 1982 anyone? 3 fortunate draws in group stages before being grouped with one the greatest Brazilian sides I have ever seen and pretty good Argentina who were holders and had a young Maradona. Yet Italy beat them both in classic games. From then on they just got better and better and deservedly won the tournament. Denmark did something similar in the Euros in 1992. I know this is not the template for all success in competitions but it is important. England can win even if they are not the favourites.

Hard to believe Scotland beat Spain 2-0 in the qualifiers, its also been said we were in the easier side of the draw (not that you'd know,) thats why its good to win your group.

You only need to look at Argentina in the last world cup. They went into win it after losing their opening game to Saudi Arabia. I think personally England are destined to win this one. Think we were unplayable that first half tbh yesterday.

this time yesterday was massively positive on the poll England win....now flipped to Spain 55/45%........I still think England can edge it but need to snub out the spark of Spain early!

The fortune and VAR tripe will run out tonight, Spain seem a far better team.
They shouldn't be as on paper we are by the the better squad of players, need a capable manager and this English squad could dominats the world for a long time.
Kane shouldn't be starting and I want Palmer on the pitch for longer. The lads lethal.

Think watkins needs to start to have a chance. Not because his one goal lays all our hopes on him, but Kane wont affect the game much if they have most of the ball.
Watkins will disrupt their shape and have them looking over their shoulder.. i see that as the only real way to stop them getting into a rythm and just suffocating us. We arent very good at breaking out of this sort of thing.
I really wish it wasnt such a big deal to start a different striker (in football in general) with the view your top striker can come on when the game is more stretched and win you the game, rather than see them labour around for 60minutes and be replaced by your 'second choice'. Second half is where more goals are scored yet most first choice strikers will miss 1 or 2 thirds of it due to being subbed!
With ET/pens to me it makes even more sense to start your industrious striker and bring your fresh goal scorer/pen taker on for the second half/ET.

It’s time for England to win it but I fear Spain will run rings round us. Genuinely hope I’m wrong.

I don't think England would be called a great team if they had lost 2-0 to Scotland only last year in the qualifying for this very competition

I’m sure there will be some people in the England camp hoping he gets a hamstring pull in training, because symbolically it’s difficult to drop your captain for any other reason. But I agree that any of the other CF’s will give Spain more to think about. Will we see a Jimmy Greaves type decision on Sunday?

There is not a cat in hells chance that Kane would ever be dropped

There is not a cat in hells chance that Kane would ever be dropped I agree, Southgate is simply not bold enough to do that. You can’t argue that he’s been a superstar for the team, but making him the captain has landed us with this situation. Certainly be interesting if Spain take a lead into half time and we need to freshen up the front line. I actually think Kane is mature enough to accept a decision to put him on the bench, or sub him early. Any captain should be prepared to put the team before themselves. Who knows, we might defy the odds and this scenario doesn’t play out?

He’s one of the best strikers in the world and one of the best strikers England have ever had. Dropping him would be a ridiculous decision.

If the tournament was a boxing match, the referee would have already awarded it to Spain. Best team by some distance.
But...it's a final. Spain have won six on the trot - seven would be astonishing. We looked genuinely excellent for a while against Netherlands. Bellingham's last minute equaliser, Watkins' late goal...you need luck, and we've had luck.
Leverkusen went an entire season unbeaten...until a cup final, when they got beaten by the supposed underdog.
Just feels like time for a team to shithouse their way to winning again.
I think we'll win, even if we don't deserve to.
Fuck it, it's coming home.

Performing poorly, under par and getting beaten most of the way through but controversially and perhaps undeservedly winning in the end!
