Don't understand what's going on with Nicholls, he is there but Maxwell is playing the full 90. Does Duff just not rate him? Probably won’t be here But what is there to rate? Nicholls was brilliant in the play of season. Since? He had the worst shot save percentage in the championship last season of any keeper who made more than 20 appearances

Couldn’t sum this up better myself. But people will still say they’re ‘good enough’ - whatever that means… Add Hogg to that and it's like dad's army trying to keep clean sheets

Couldn’t sum this up better myself. But people will still say they’re ‘good enough’ - whatever that means… There’s certain town fans who love what I would call ‘Brexit’ players, meaning traditional players with no skill who still play football like it’s the 80s. Add to that they’ve watched these clowns over the last two seasons and still think they’ll be good, why?

Still a load of cloggers defending the goal. We needed better last season, nothing has changed.

Couldn’t sum this up better myself. But people will still say they’re ‘good enough’ - whatever that means… Of course they are good enough, their experience, willingness to battle & aerial ability will be more than good enough in League 1. The team we played against today would be comfortably top end Championship, with pace to burn up front. We will not meet a team in League 1 with the speed & movement Aris had playing today. If everyone stays, I expect the 3 CBs will be Pearson, Helik & Spencer. Why are you so disrespectful against players that have served us so well & will continue to do so?

are they still part-timers? They got to Q3 champions league qualifiers and played Europa league last season. Hopefully they're as good as some on here think. Listed as part time on wiki, play in the Cypriot league and have a squad value of £10M less than ours! Played Rangers last season which apparently makes them world beaters!? Slightly concerned they appear to have out classed us tbh but will reserve judgement!

Disjointed after 61 minute changes. Kazumo not up to speed nor do I think he will be. Ward, time to go, 3 goals all avoidable and hardly any attempts on goal. First half team played well. UTT

I’ll give you that they’ve ‘served’ us, but not that they’ve been particularly ‘served us so well’. This isn’t an attack but there’s a serious mentality issue at town for years with fans with minds like yourselves. We need/are having massive changes and it’s very much needed

Still a load of cloggers defending the goal. We needed better last season, nothing has changed. None of them can play 3 at the back need pace and positional know how. They have been poor at it for last seasons when we have played it. I don't like Spencer on the left either can't use his left foot be better on the right of the 3 can cover well. I know it's pre season and we will be leggy and not up to speed but we still looked to lack any attacking know how, hardly any chances created Healey looked isolated, ward ,harratt didn't know they were on the pitch

How can it be factual when they've never played in League 1 for us? Lees & Pearson were stalwarts in a team that were robbed at Wembley when we could have easily have been promoted to the Premier League. Did you watch the game today or are you just guessing?

Some people really don't understand pre season friendlies.
After a double training session, that was a very good performance. None of the players tonight will have been at 100% in mind or body after double training.
It's all about getting leggy and becoming fitter and sharper through that.
We played a team who competed in Europe last season and were close to actually getting into the CL.
The goals conceded, Ruffels too slow tracking to the runner and then at fault for the 2nd with the lunge. That already showed the tiredness due to the sessions earlier in the day.
No doubt the performance will be similar on Thursday against Hertha Berlin.
Lecce will be the one where I am expecting to see the hard work slowly paying off and the players looking sharper and more agile.
The scoreline means nothing in these games.

The changes killed us. Kas was way off, did Ward touch the ball? Struggle to pick out a positive performance among the subs.

They were also stalwarts in a team that were struggling at the bottom for each of the last two years. It's not disrespectful to recognise that they are probably past their best and that perhaps we need some better defenders.

Two new CBs, a defensive midfielder and a couple of strikers minimum. Plenty still needed but don't trust our people at the top to get it right. The fact that Cartwright had to re-interview for his job after the disaster last season is a massive red flag to me.

I felt the only issue last season was not at least having 1 challenge. Nothing wrong in the opposition we played, after the previous season it was more about team morale and confidence. Warnock did that tour most years and nobody ever complained.

What's with this obsession around pace.
When we last got promoted out of this division, these were our defenders:
Callum Woods Gary Naysmith Peter Clarke Jamie Mccombe Tom Clarke Sean Morrison Antony Kay
Unless this division has transformed completely in 12 years and is now filled with speed merchants up front then I don't see the concern. Experience and reading of the game is enough at this level as shown by the players above and the likes of Richard Wood being one of the divisions best defenders well in to his late 30s despite looking like he's towing a caravan

My Thoughts after playing a much stronger opposition - we won't play against that every week in league one. Plus we dont know how much the players trained in the morning, as they did look leggy.
Maxwell 6 - some great saves but a couple of soft ones - needs more strength.
Defenders ruffels - 4 clearly lack game time. Lees - unfair to judge as he is behind the others Pearson - 4 Just too slow. Helik - 6 hope we dont lose him Spencer - 4 probably not as fit as he needs to be. Turton 6 - thought he did okay and he has been out for a long time
Midfield Hogg 6 - slow at times but had positive impact at times. Kane 6 - looks a bit rusty but you can see his quality Evans 6 - certainly knows how to take a free kick, Grew into the game. Kasumu 3 - looked off the pace Wiles 3 - looked off the pace Miller 7 - Our best player I thought. Headley 5 - sometimes great, sometimes naive. Iorpenda 6 - Playing himself into the team. Very composed. Sorenson 5 - gave the ball away an awful lot. Nothing positive going forward. Jones 4 - didnt get much of the ball.
Strikers Healey 6 - didnt get my service but offered himself. Koroma 6 - good and bad as usual Harratt - 4 did nothing of any note. Ward - 3 Our highest paid player. had zero effect in his cameo performance.
Conclusion
If we lose Sorba we need a replacement. We are desperate for a striker. We lack pace in defence and that's a worry.

As stands starters would be a mixture of the two sides tonight. Looked off pace other than 10 end first half and 10 start of second.for time being I’ll put that down to the mention of double session yesterday trained this morning couple with opposition being 2 weeks in front of us.Work to do though. Maybe wouldn’t read too much into Nicholls not playing,he may play full 90 next game.Sorba though hmmm I dunno. Areas of concern if base everything on tonight’s performance would be pace at back, even if presume Spencer starts. Also Kane and evans quality on ball but seem to lack pace too, combined with Hogg would be weakness.Kasumu fills the pace void but poor on the ball. Ruffels caught on ball and few time positionally, turton passing dreadful.Lees clearly rusty. Much work to do,also highlights we do really probably need 1 if not 2 pacey centre halves,a defensive mid who’s fairly quick but also half decent on ball and then the striker obviously too. That said plenty time to improve and was a good test.
