Must be one of the toughest transfer markets to operate in.
Every club looking for young talent to develop and sell on
Premier league clubs on lucrative tours bringing huge squads of players including many young players (no loan chance yet) especially after euros and current Olympics going on!
English players values going through the roof - ffp 100% profit on home grown!
League one clubs looking abroad due to challenges - peterborough and Bolton most recent ones ( both have not done this for many years)
Difficult to shift wage earners in league 1 ( limited budgets in league1/2 due to financial governance aka 60% of turnover budget for players
Not stating the above to excuse anything but worth flagging the less than easy market conditions.
I expect when premier league clubs are back from tours etc for things to really heat up
