Remember this game too. Stevenage made it very difficult for us and got a penalty in the last couple of minutes which was blazed over the bar. Lee Clark nearly took Graham Westley's hand off when 'shaking it' at the end of the match. I was desperate to leave League One at that moment in time. Went to this one myself, threw away a two goal lead, only plus was a new ground visited. Different game. Grayson was manager then.

One thing I think we need to be careful of this season is giving away too many free kicks from pressing too enthusiastically. Happened a lot against Posh first half, teams that are looking to kill the game will be playing for this. I didn't see the first half but I was really pleased to hear we'd given lots of niggly free kicks away when they'd beaten the press. It's a dangerous time, especially when you're playing pacy teams. Over the last few seasons I've lost count of the number of goals we could have prevented by given a soft free kick away in a non dangerous position.

Lots of people moaning at the ref around me but he was just reacting correctly to daft fouls. They got a lot better and more disciplined second half.

I absolutely lose my shit at fouls like this. No need at all to even try win the ball in these situations, just give the defender a yard and see what he does. As soon as you touch them they go down and get a free kick. Its so frustrating and ruins all the hard work of the press in the first place. As stated, luckily we got a bit more savvy in the second half and we were much better and stopped giving as many away.

As stated, luckily we got a bit more savvy in the second half and we were much better and stopped giving as many away. It’s an occupational hazard of the high press. If you put pressure on, you will concede free kicks when trying to force the error. A lot of the free kicks we concede will be soft and frustrating. But we’ll learn how to be savvy with it. We’ll learn when to go for the ball when the turnover of possession might give us a chance of scoring, and when they’re just going nowhere. Teams who press aren’t helped by defence-friendly interpretations of what constitutes a foul. A few times on both Saturday and Tuesday we conceded free kicks in the opposition’s defensive third where we’d just got tight. Nothing more.

Great stat… Thanks, on the flip side it also means we haven't won our first home league match since 1st season in prem when we beat Newcastle 1-0

I know it's early but we seem more professional in every area. Like the Gaffer says stick & get behind the team for 90+ mins. The Brum, Wrexham & Bolton love in with the media will suit us just fine. UTT I noticed that sky didn’t include our game with Peterborough and Morecambe on their YouTube channel. Seems odd

Don’t know if anyone has said this but we haven’t won our first home of the season since Newcastle in 2017 in the prem Yep, we've got that ridiculous record of playing and losing to the eventual league champions in our first home match for each of the last 4 seasons now... Norwich, Fulham, Burnley, Leicester.

3 journalists and not one asked if Helik went off through injury or just resting him.
Basic stuff. Not one question about team news.

This will be a tough game and we can't afford to miss as many chances like we did on Tuesday night.

Not sure I've ever seen a more positive poll about a Town game - 86%+ for a Win. Fingers crossed we are marking the start of a new era and can get this one over the line. Would be great for all involved at the club

The old Poland IP address might have to come out tomorrow….
Loved what I’ve seen from us in pre-season and in our first two games. For sure, having Duff in so early has helped.
Some of the comments about Pearson and Hogg were / are slightly unfair. Both very experienced players who we will need this season.
Key is to keep Helik.
Headley was superb on Tuesday night but Miller has played well all pre season.
Sorensen different level on Tuesday night. Seems to have got better as he has settled.
Just need that pacy striker that shouldn’t really be playing in league one and that would make us a very good team.
(I thought Duff was tongue in cheek describing Haaland when asked about a striker )

Got banana skin written all over it. Wonder if we'll go with Kane, Wiles and Evans, Hasn't it just! Shiny improved stadium, new manager, new players, new era, unprecedented levels of positivity amongst fan base, chairman over to enjoy the games. We know what happens next I think we'll need Hoggy in midfield, likely to be a good battle. Let's hope we can avoid the banana skin for a change and turn over a new leaf.

TBF you have been accurate on a regular basis for the last few seasons. However, if you genuinely think we will get beat every week then I would suggest you take up a new hobby

I’m fairly sure that I’ve never been to more than a handful of games in the last 50 years where I turned up expecting us to win. And on the rare occasions when I did…Barnet springs to mind…we usually didn’t.
