IIRC when we played Rochdale in the cup in 1991 (my first away game), Gary was listed in the programme as Willie Moat! Either that or my marbles have finally started escaping This is indeed true, William Moat was a player for Gretna Green who Rochdale had played in the previous round in a replay....not sure if this is true though.

God, that was an instant flashback when the words “Willy Moat” were mentioned up thread - vividly remember being completely non plussed at the time.

Gary said he loved it at Leeds Road, loved playing there, loved the fans, always got a buzz from playing on the wing at Leeds Road and was devastated to leave.

There's also TWO Steve Doyles! Officials: Ken Lupton, and Terry Heilbron - both decent refs (Heilbron a liner at the time) and way better than most we see these days.

I will be speaking to Gary Barnett in the near future, about his time at Leeds Road between 1990 and 1993. Does anyone have any memories of him or anything they want to ask him? My biggest memory is not being able to cheer when he belted one in against Sunderland. The game we beat them in the cup 4-0 with Gary Owers being sent off. Travelled up from college with 3 Sunderland fans, in the away end, not able to celebrate any of the goals. Pretty quiet car ride back down to Chichester too
