I will be speaking to Gary Barnett in the near future, about his time at Leeds Road between 1990 and 1993.
Does anyone have any memories of him or anything they want to ask him?

Good player, always very industrious, 100 percenter. Was a key member of the play off team under Eoin Hand.

Really glad you said "not dead"!
Yep. Cracking little player and for a while made my "best ever HTFC XI". Worked his arse off in the RHS of midfield.

I'm quite interested to hear his thoughts about the often forgotten Mick Buxton-inspired Great Escape. Never fails to amaze me when I look at the stats and I'd love to have the opportunity to ask Mick about it some day.

Watched him warm up before the match started away at either Blackpool or Bolton, I forget which.
Every shot he did went in - he bent them in, volleyed them, 10yards, 25 yards etc etc. Looked absolutely deadly
Match started and, as ever, poor Gary couldn't hit the proverbial cow's arse with a banjo !

Great little player. Was a bit gutted (in my very youthful days) when he was sold for a paltry £25k.

Very busy player who I liked a lot when he was with us.
Always left everything out there in the pitch.
Scored a peach of a goal when we trounced Sunderland in the league cup.

Ooooo Gary Barnett. Lyric writers never went overboard in those days! If anyone is unsure of the tune for that song, it was to the same tune as "Ooh, Phil Starbuck".

Was my favourite player for a long time.
The reason is I went in the TERRACE only once at Leeds road for a Coca Cup game against Sunderland, Gary Barnett gave me a branded Coca Cola full size football before kick off as I was literally standing at the front right on the halfway line.
He was also a decent player for us in terms of ability from memory

Echo the sentiments above. 'Diminutive', 'hard-working'... He always gave 100% effort although he wasn't the most skilful player. He tended to work one-twos with Ewan a lot to get past his man. Rather like Iain Dunn he was under-rated but made a big contribution.

Who was he sold to? Can't remember Orient. Had to Google as I thought Fulham but that’s who we bought him from.

IIRC when we played Rochdale in the cup in 1991 (my first away game), Gary was listed in the programme as Willie Moat!
Either that or my marbles have finally started escaping
