Have we won or lost the first 4 games this season!?!!?!
Results-wise it has been the perfect start to the season - enjoy it!!! Football is full of ups and downs, as we all know!
4 matches played 4 wins 8 goals scored 1 goal conceded (penalty) 0 goals conceded from open play 6 different goal-scorers
If anyone offered us this a month ago, we would be delighted!
Despite the stats above, at least 7 or 8 players have been slagged off or called out for being sh1t. Blows my mind tbh.
We have a new manager, new ideas, new players, new playing style - we are a work in progress and it is early days. To win matches and have moments of good football this early in the process is not to be sniffed at.
We will get better in terms of fluidity but we will also lose some matches and have off weeks performance-wise. We will probably have a bad streak of results too - it is a long season.
Whether it is now or January, I am sure we will see some further additions too.
Lots to like and no shortage of effort from everyone. Sadly, I am sure there are folk waiting for us to trip up, so can say, “told you so”. It is a 46 game season so this day will come - hopefully the majority of fans stick behind the team when it does.
I’m not naive and of course performances can and will get better but no easy games in football and any win should be enjoyed.
We are supporters, so let’s SUPPORT the team.

There's also still 5 days of transfer window too.
The biggest challenge I think we have, and MD keeps eluding to this, is the losing mindset across the club. I think he is, perhaps, more concerned about the mentality of the squad as opposed to the ability.
As you say we are a work in progress but as long as we do progress, and I currently no reason why we won't, then I think there is much to be encouraged about.
I completely get the frustration/cynicism/negativity of some but at some point we all have to give those in charge a chance to take us in a better direction.
Results couldn't have been better and if there is a positive of the performances so far it has highlighted where we need to improve. It's easier to improve when you're winning games of football and building confidence.
Long way to go as you say but a perfectly good start.

Crumbs, this is a board for fans to discuss the club and how we would like it to be improved.
We support the team, but we are not blind to areas that can be improved.

You're right but there are plenty sharpening their keyboards ready to pounce on the slightest failure/issue. I don’t think that any of us has realised how bad, and potentially deepset, some of the issues at the club were. Yes there are things to improve but I think people are now focused on improving. Rather than ignoring what needs attention. It's entirely possible it may take longer than many would like, it might not, bit the bar has definitely been set higher so that's something to be encouraged about.

UTT Yesterday wasn’t great but 3 points and we move on. Any successful team wins when they don’t play well. After saying all that we still missed 3 or 4 gobbers which would have made it a much more comfortable afternoon

I get that after quite a few years, apart from one bizarre season, fans will be down on our team but, for me, the seeds of what is happening now could be seen throughout pre-season:
Duff had turned round the playing style, increased confidence, got some quality L1 players &, perhaps most importantly of all, changed the team's attitudes.
We are, for sure, a work in progress, but we have nothing to fear in this division. Of course other teams will have chances, we're not quite prime time Wagner Huddersfield Town, but we are a big fish in this league. I know Birmingham have brought in about 15 players but how are they going to keep them all happy? Our big turn over, due to the fact we have bought really wisely so far, will be next season, whether we are promoted or not, due to the amount we will have out of contract.
We have started this season as well as anyone can have hoped, let's get behind the boys, this could be a great season.

What bugs me is that certain fans need someone to blame, always on the back of a certain player, you hear it in the ground and you see it on here. In my youth I always remember the shit Dave Cowling got and that was in an extremely successful team. One bloke was always up on his feet within 10 minutes screaming at Cowling. I never understood it then and I don´t understand it now. This year it seems to be a choice of Hogg, Ward or Pearson, some people have something lacking in their lives , constructive criticism yes, pure vitriol no.

Buy a decent centre back, and a striker, and we are on another level with the squad we have mustered/retained. Then autos look achievable, even at this early stage. KN alluded to the difficulties of attracting new signings in the recent excellent podcast (on DATM) but if he is serious about getting us straight back up, which he suggests he is, then we need to pull out all the stops. Nothing worse in this division than squandering a golden opportunity then wallowing in self pity and regret for 10 seasons. Come on Kev!

The club has been run on a relative shoestring in recent yrs. Agents will know it and now be trying to rob us blind given the new owners apparent wealth. Hes been here for a couple of wks or so now - and will have seen what we need. Duff appears relatively content and the mood much improved - lets see what this wk brings.

Four wins from four games with a team that has quite obvious deficiencies.
If they are addressed properly then we'll all be happy.

Those people that come with a seemingly pre-conceived plan to lay into certain players for little reason. I'm sure those players concerned value that constructive level of criticism and motivation! I'm in a new season ticket seat this year as got a bit fed up with a couple around me. Seem to have stumbled on another though. Pearson came on...remember as an injury replacement and the only centre half on the bench. Within about 12 seconds this idiot had screamed at him 'why are you even on the pitch'. I just don't get the pysche

Robins…. Mark Robins? Or are we talking about Iwan Roberts? Ian Robins Don’t ever remember Ian Robins getting stick but big Ewan got a bit that first season. Folk remember his second season when he got 34 goals but he was a bit ropey in his first. Didn’t he follow Maskell? Big boots to fill there.

Opening record is very good but we haven’t played anyone of any note whatsoever yet, be able to gauge much better by the end of September. I’d say I’m content with how things are going so far without doing cartwheels around the garden. Definite room for improvement which the manager knows too. We need a couple of new faces in by the end of the week, let’s hope we can push some deals through.

Peterborough in league one are a consistently strong team, that was a tough game to have first up.

Fecking hate this thread, factual, balanced up beat. This is football, far more important than world peace etc.

We weren’t great on Saturday, no doubt about that & we are all in agreement that there are areas we’d like to strengthen, but fuck me you’d think we hadn’t won a game by some peoples reactions.
I remember folk saying that we should be moving fast on players like Rotherham - they are doing well with all their signings aren’t they..
After watching the opening 4 games, by biggest concern now is keeping Sorensen and Miller fit, they are crucial to how we play and the drop off in quality is huge in those positions if injured.

Granted first half they looked pretty decent but second half there was only one team in it. I have to say since then and despite us huffing and puffing on Saturday, all the other teams we’ve played so far have been cannon fodder.

I agree we've not found consistency throughout 90 minutes yet but it's promising we've still got 3 points in each game. I believe as we accumulate more games we'll get there.

99% of football supporters are inherently gloomy and negative. It's a fact of life.
