My first Town match was against Swindon (3-0 loss) in the 10-1 Man City relegation season and my first season ticket was when Maskell scored about 33 goals in a season (Steve Bull,Mutch, Brian Deane and Tony Agana where banging them in too) and we finished mid table. I still think he was the best goal scorer I have seen at Town. Rose tinted glasses or was he not actually as good as I remember? His free kicks were still good no matter what anyone says!!

He was my favourite player when I first started watching Town.

My favorite player, such a fantastic left foot and could take a brilliant free kick.

I think it’s a bit of nostalgia but one of my favourites. Standing on the grass bank at Wigan, watching him curl another free kick in the top corner will always stick in my mind.

Best one-on-one finisher I have ever seen at Town as well. Him and Iwan Roberts would have been a dream partnership.

Great player, great goalscorer and only cost us 20k from Southampton.

I often wonder what he and all our other stars are doing now, I just find it interesting as I doubt players from that era made a great deal out of the game.

Superb player.
We went through a phase of having really prolific strikers while still managing to be a thoroughly mediocre team 😂

Duncan Shearer was my first hero, still in the game with Inverness Funny story about Duncan. I worked in Inverness for 15 years and I once bumped into him near the football stadium. So, as you do, I approached him and said that I was a lifelong fan of one of his former clubs. He replied "oh really, which one?". When I told him it was Huddersfield Town he said "oh" and just walked away! 😂

Yes Maskell was very good but if you're choosing our best ever goalscorer in my time as a fan I have to say Marcus Stewart has the edge.

If there was anything going on with his time at Town it would have gone over my head due to my age.

Think you may have caught him on a bad day!

He was quality for Town. If we had him this season we’d go up automatic.

Always wore a long sleeve shirt with the collar buttoned up (when we had collars).
He's up there with the best goalscorers at our club in my opinion, even if it was only for two seasons.

I often wonder what he and all our other stars are doing now, I just find it interesting as I doubt players from that era made a great deal out of the game. Me too... Like a few others, I'm also of the generation where Maskell was our main goalscorer when I first started going to games. Was only a young lad though, and can barely remember anything about what happened on the pitch. I was more interested in using the crush rails as climbing frames! These days when there's a new thread about a player from that era, I worry that they've died or been diagnosed with something.

Without doubt after Frank W the most balanced footballer we have ever had. Only twenty and 5/9” when he joined us. His touch was superb. No wonder he did well for Hoddle. When you think we had him,Roberts, shearer in some poor Div Three teams…. Amazing.

Miles off if it was a Maskell post - great player but always thought he didn’t give a shiny shite about Town.
