In all honesty, I’ve lost a lot of interest since we were relegated. Doesn’t look like we’re giving it our best shot for an instant return to the Championship either and there’s still that malaise hanging over the club which goes back a few seasons. Joint top. Signed 2 players today - this post has aged well….. To be fair Duncan you're not really in a position comment. FWIW I'm really enjoying your input so far this season

Not exactly the signings many were craving for but hopefully they will temper the growing negativity towards the owner, club and the fans!

We still need - and I've been saying this for the last 5 years - a striker.

Not exactly the signings many were craving for but hopefully they will temper the growing negativity towards the owner, club and the fans! I have no negativity towards the owner. He wasnt the one stupidly pushing a player in the box, gifting possession away like free samples and just being generally shite the other night. KN has backed his mgrs and we now have some decent players - sadly we have some who need to leave also and therein lies the tough part. Be honest - whos taking hudlin, high, harratt, headley even hogg, ward and pearson. Some of these have been fine players for us but their powers are on the wane and its not easy to balance it all. Im not sure what signings would satisfy the cravings - ive never seen the new lads play nor had i seen much of kane, evans, sorenson, miller. We just have to hope weve got more right than wrong - they dont all work anywhere. Abusing the club and owner though is just daft - KN clearly cares but will make mistakes as well as good decisions. His predecessor even as a big fan from childhood sure did both.

Signed 2 players today - this post has aged well….. Having played League 1’s equivalent of The Dog & Duck (+ Posh) and huffed and puffed to get the wins. I’ll reserve judgement on the 2 signings until I actually see them play a few games as many thought the incomings in January would be ok and look how that turned out.

The two signings look ideal
New CB (right footed) has youth, legs, head a ball and decent season in L1 for Plymouth
New No 6, gives an option to not play Hogg each game, options when Kane fit and Kasumu
Kasumu can cover for RWB as Turton is an unknown quantity post such injuries
Hopefully a young striker in with quality to cover for Ward, Radulavic

Alas, no change in climate at Rotherham either...
3 more red cards, another penalty, another lead squandered... another feeble effort from Town
Those chilly winds appear to be turning into a bit of a storm .. summer is ending...darker days ahead...

Alas, no change in climate at Rotherham either... 3 more red cards, another penalty, another lead squandered... another feeble effort from Town Those chilly winds appear to be turning into a bit of a storm .. summer is ending...darker days ahead... You could look at it like that or it might be the point that MD says "I've seen enough" and really starts to stamp his authority on things. I am definitely now of the opinion that years of poor choices are hanging heavy over the club. To change that in one summer and window might be more than a little optimistic. Is that soon enough? For some, and I understand why, no. However there is a point were reality has to hit home. I think the commitment shown by Mr Nagle is fine. I think even he might need to be a bit more realistic about the timeframe for turning us round. On the plus side I have still seen enough to think this squad can maintain a promotion challenge, but they can't afford displays like the last two games to do that. However, if we are looking at the bigger picture, and the stated ambition to challenge in the Championship strongly in seasons to come, this squad would need significant work and investment. MD might be able to find a way to get us back to the Championship this season but he would need significant support going forward. I have seen enough so far to know the quality gap between League One and he Championship is significant. As Birmingham, to use a phrase, "blow their brains", they set a, unrealistic, bench mark for which more ambitious League One clubs will be measured against. We are clearly said to have ambitions but because we have not shown the same intent as Birmingham there is a degree of frustration. It is a frustration which is borne from all of the mistakes we have had to witness in the past. What immediately matters of course is performances on the pitch. That is down to MD and the players. I have faith in MD but let's be honest he isn't being helped by injuries already. We need to see improvements after two very disappointing performances but some of the personnel who could help deliver that are likely out until early October. I make the point because we might be more frustrated in the next 3 or 4 games (Bolton and Reading are tough assignments) and the mood will darken in some quarters as the nights close in. The stark reality is MD cannot change anything until January even if he wanted to so he has to get the best out of what he has got. Get the squad performing to their best and we will be ok I am sure. Any drop off at all will only increase the frustration many will feel. Irrespective of the prospect of a better future under Mr Nagle, which I think is likely, the short term might be indeed a winter of discontent. Lots can happen of course but I think the journey to a better climate might be a bumpy one.

I agree with most of the above.Sadly your post could be from 12 months ago.We are heading into a campaign following another window having failed to address the lack of strikers. The recruitment in the championship was appalling.Money chucked away on a mixture of crocks and weak footballers. The new players from this window will need time to bed in of course, but it was noticeable how physically stronger Rotherham looked and that is a worry. After a good start at Peterborough where we looked fit, played an aggressive pressing game and put smiles back on fans face it feels like we are back to square one. .Every game since has seen a progressively worse performance culminating in Saturday’s pathetic effort. We looked weak all over the pitch. Defensively we were shambolic and combined with an invisible midfield and toothless attack got what we deserved. the ridiculously bad penalty capped it .The ref had a shocker but it should not hide the fact that Rotherham were still far better than us. As for the owner tweeting that we could not find any strikers better than what we have, words fail me. Who was it who once said “ Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining “ UTT

We lost a carabou cup tie playing half the game with ten men, against a team who have had a decent start in their own division, far from great last but jesus fkn christ. I guess losing to a League Two team is nothing to worry about though you do know League Two is below League One. I mean it's not like we should be aiming to win every game is it.
