Died, aged 63. That was a very good Villa side, winning the League and European Cup.

Died, aged 63. That was a very good Villa side, winning the League and European Cup. Formed a useful partnership with Peter Withe, back in the days when it was all 4-4-2 and every side had the Big-Man-Little-Man combination up front.

Very sad news loved watching him play in the 80s in a very good Villa side that won the title and European cup, passed away far too young

Watched L666ds v Villa, at Bellend Road, in 1980/81. Villa were superb - RIP Gary Shaw.

Bloody Hell - That’s grim news I fondly remember the team that won the league in 1981 after a good tussel with Ipswich Town - Oh for such non purchased titles these days !
And Gary Shaw was a very pivitol cog in that talented Villa team for sure... (He had a good crop of kinda darker blondish hair if I remember correctly)...
What I remember most about that was there was a good few Scottish guys in that Villa team 🏴 (Ken McNaught, Alan Evans and Des Bremner) 🏴
Me and my mate used to play footy in the field all evening in 1982 I’d sometimes play as Jimmy Rimmer, Paul Cooper, Ray Clemence and Peter Shellton and ma buddy JW would often opt to be Gary Shaw or Iain Rush !
So these are nice memories for me and it’s very sad to hear that news today...
Deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones from The Whisky Isle in Bonnie Scotland...
Does anyone know what happened to him as 63 seems to be pretty young for a passing due to natural causes...

He was a top player for the top side in the country at that time, but I cant really remember him playing for England much , if at all. Guess we must have had some pretty good strikers around back then.
sad news RIP

Died, aged 63. That was a very good Villa side, winning the League and European Cup. Excellent side. Shaw and Withe given great service by the likes of Tony Morley and Gordon Cowans.

Can picture him in that Villa side in the early 80s - great player. RIP
