It just occurred to me that tomorrow is the 45th anniversary of me starting my journey as a Huddersfield Town fan. On a Friday night I went to see the Buxton team away at Northampton Town, we lost 4-2 (as you might expect ) but I am still here all these years on. Just think how you would have all been spared my long winded diatribes had the doors slid in a different way. I'm going tonight so if things don't go well you know who to blame UTT

Thought this was going to be an update on how long it is since we scored a home pen.
Congrats mate..think youre a newcomer compared to me because my first game was about a week earlier in the Pompey home game!

can't remember day, date, opposition or score of my first game sadly,. My eldest brother took me down at the start of the 1960/61 season so I guess I'm near my 64th anniversary.
Sadly since COVID I've not been to a game.. just broke the habit but not the keen interest in results etc.

I’ve said this before but I’m really surprised so few people keep any sort of record of games they’ve been to. It’s something I’ve always done. First game for me, 30th March 1965, Town v Middlesbrough on a Tuesday night, Les Massie with a 14th minute header for a 1-0 win to Town.

Portsmouth at home, Feb 1987 for me. Won 2-0 with second half goals from Duncan Shearer & Ian Banks. Steve Smith had recently taken over from Mick Buxton.
Or 37 years, 8 months, 1 day, 22 hours and 38 minutes since kick off.

Can't remember the exact date, not even the opponents, but my first game will have been during a school holiday, either Xmas or Easter (slim chance of summer too). I think the only thing I remember is being scared of leaving Uncle Andy's side because there were so many people and it was so noisy. I've been told I was about 7 or 8 so around 1980/81 although my mam can't remember exactly either. Uncle that took me isn't around to ask unfortunately. Edit: Loving this thread, although some might not want us to gauge how old they are by their first match

So I can remember the playoff game at Brentford in 1995. I can remember every occasion at Wembley. I can remember my first game. Also my first away game (a 2-0 loss at Oldham with their plastic pitch). Do I have any recollection of the 1-2 home defeat to Port Vale in 1992? or the 1-1 draw with Burnley in 1994? Nope. I was almost certainly there though.

Cup match against Brian Cloughs Notts Forrest.
3-3, midweek, under the lights at Leeds Road. Remember it as if it was yesterday.
I remember Brookey being a program seller that night as he was a lad I knew at school

Having just had to refer to google, I've worked out that my first Town match was in January 1976 - the FA Cup tie at Leeds Road against Bolton. I've got limited, vague memories of the experience, but at that age (a few days before my 9th birthday) I had no attention span for watching things as I was far too busy actually doing things. I do remember standing on the concrete part of one of the crush barriers on the Terrace Side to be able to see, and also that me and my dad were stood next to some Bolton fans and they shared the contents of their thermos (coffee, not pork pie!) with us at half time. It was decided that I wouldn't be taken again until my attention span/interest improved - although my dad actually preferred to watch Fartown and I went there a bit more often. My next 'go' was Tony Leighton's testimonial game in January 1978. I still couldn't stand still for more than a few minutes, much preferring to wander around and climbing on things, so that was that until I got to High School and Buxton started to make his presence felt. My first game that I actually took an interest in was a home game in 1979 against York City and my first away game was Steve Kindon's debut at the Shay on the Boxing Day that year. After that we started going more regularly and I barely missed a home game for the next few years.

Just noticed the date it’s now exactly 47 years since my introduction to those blue and white stripes. 22nd of October 1977 Town 2 Barnsley 0, 2 Terry Eccles goals. Travelled on the old national express from Ossett with mates from school and I was hooked.

2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers, last home game of 68/69 season. 9 years old.
Only remember Steve Smith getting pelters.

I must be a newbie then 24th April 1993 home to hull city won three nil. O Reagan starbuck and Brandon. Would love to know anyone who can find the minutes of the scorers. Only thing I don’t remember. I want to print up one of those teletext tee shirts but need the minutes.

First two games were lost without a goal being scored. Knew then it would be a long hard road.

I can't remember what I did last week never mind which was my first game. I'm guessing 61/62 season, looking at who was playing for Town. Wanted to go to the Wolves replay with my dad for my first game but he was worried about the crowd size, quite rightly.

I feel slightly cheated as I don't know when my first game was. 79/80 is the first one I have memories of but pretty sure dad would have taken me to at least some games in the year or two prior. He's long gone now so I'll never know! I'll claim the 7-1 vs port Vale in that case although I actually missed that one. Don't know why I didn't but imagine my 8 year old indignation when I found out the result!!
