It was the Patrons Meeting tonight.
Ken Davy was not present as he was away on business.
The board were asked "What are the ambitious plans that Ken stated in the Examiner?"
Andrew Watson's reply was............
"The ambitious plans are, as they have been since 2003, to achieve promotion this season and to push to be a top 30 club in our centenary season"
He said that the drop in crowd figures by over 2500 every game has affected finances, and would result in a deficit of £600k - £700k by the end of the season (even in comparison to last season)
Roger Armitage later contradicted him by saying that, although the crowds were less, the finances were only slighly less than last season due to the ticketing structure Sean Jarvis has introduced.
Also the wage budget was increased with all the managerial candidates BUT when Andy Ritchie took over they INCREASED the budget which ALLOWED him to bring in Sinclair, Cadamarteri & Kamara.
So, what was the initial agreed budget supposed to cover? Increased wages?
Roger Armitage also said that, with regards to the Adam Pearson bid, the financial figures were never revealed by Ken Davy and the accusation was that Adam Pearson had played them, strung them on, and lied to them.
Didn't Ken Davy announce figures of £1.7m (to cover his capital investment thus far) and a further £1.5m (for investment) which he would match on a 60/40 basis?

Yep. Sounds like a consignment of geriatric shoemakers to me also. When will they realise that a good "product" (hey!! marketing speak", i.e. a good side will bring fans back?

So, what was the initial agreed budget supposed to cover? Increased wages? Hahaha, imagine the team we would have had without getting them in. To be honest I'd take very little notice of what anyone of them has to say. It's all spin spin and more spin.

So there were no 'ambitious plans' after all. Well theres a shock! I haven't been so surprised since Granny's love eggs dropped out at my brothers wedding do! Don't suppose smithers mentioned ANY ,even tiny hint, of what could possibly,at a push, be described as something coming close to resembling this 'sound financial footing' Kenochio keeps insisting we're on either did he?

'Apparently' if it wasn't for Uncle Ken, Huddersfield Town would be doooooooooooooooomed.
KD is single-handedly keeping Town afloat.
AW forgets that if KD wasn't in charge that someone else would be....and presumably that person would realise that you can't run a football club on a pittance......presumably that person would input at least as much money as KD??
We should all be thankful that KD hasn't walked away, and that he wants to see Town progress and succeed.....apparently!!

Doesn't our centenary season start next August!!
Seems like a re-re-re-re-branding exercise!!
To be fair though we've bought a couple of quality players in, albeit on loan.
I'll wait and see if any are signed permanent to see if our 'ambitious plans' are to be realised.
Lets see what happens come February, once the superleague season starts ;D

No chance of signing Jevons and Wallwork permanantly then.

Yes we have! The problem is one of our better players is leaving to a championship side. Just what i have heard anyway.

......do they really believe that we still (or ever) had a chance of promotion this year... or is it more spin to try and hold onto the remaining supporters...... ? Serious contenders are consistant and can field a full team of professionals on match days.... if they can't see that...... bah..... (I hate being talked down to by flim-flam con artists)

I was told at the Grimsby game there were a number of scouts from Premiership, Championship clubs along with the L**ds scout,(who I saw leave with 20 mins to go). Can't think of any Premiership targets in our side a lately, but maybe Cads or Kamara have attracted Championship clubs recently, who knows. It does look like we'll be selling to replace though instead of strengthening.

I don't thing we're far off getting it right for promotion
It's though a big ask to expect a manager to deliver promotion in his first season - those that do usually finish the second half the season strongly, needing the first six months to put a bit of their stamp on things
I said at the begining of the season as long we progress this year and look in a position to have a proper crack next season then I'd accept that
I still don't think we're out of it this season, it's a very tight and very poor league and we have the ability to go on a run
It's embarassing in light of Pearson's interest for the the board to suggest that without KD there would be no club. The fact is they turned down a multi million pound offer so it can't be that desparate! I take that (and their numbers of a financial shortfall) with a pinch of salt!
It's a fact life that you sell your better players, Town are no different to the other 88 selling clubs in England (all except the "big four"). I don't think anyone has stood out except for maybe Kamara, but he was a free transfer 4 months ago, it would be odd if we got a fee for him now!
The recent loan signings have shown ambition and it's good that AR is being strongly linked to other quality players like Stuart Elliott. Certainly reason for optimism

HuddsTerrier... I too think that if they had said that we are building a team for the future then fans would have had more patience... that would have been realistic and anything beyond that would have been a bonus.... but empty promises, untruths and thinly veilled threats simply wind-up the fans because they are not stupid and they don't come......

It makes sense as we are strongest in the centre of the pack with Holdsworth, Worthington, Wallwork and Collins. I expected in the summer one of the original three to go or GTF as those were the two strongest positions (well until Cadder got injured).
