I always likened Jon Thorington to Forrest Gump. What we needed was the Kilner Bank to have cards printed up with 'Stop' to remind him to actually stop running and think about getting the ball across the face of the goal. Comedy!

Mark Barham was an extremely skillful footballer...Trouble is though he was far too frail, and got taken out by thugs every time he got the ball....Denis Frank, Johnny Quigley,Ray Wilson Parkin Cattlin McNab,Ron Staniforth.Need I go on I,ve seen em all Play for Town.

Craig Maskell was an absolute gem. Duncan Shearer was the best goalscorer I have ever seen. Dean Gorre was at times mindblowing (anyone remember his volleyed goal against Swindon?). And for worst, no one has yet mentioned Terry Austin, but I think my vote for worst player to ever wear the famous stripes would be the guy we had on loan from Sheff. Wed a few years back, Michael Williams

Can of worms time buthows this for a shite 11!! Tim Clarke Willie McStay Andy Duggan Gordon Tucker Vince Chapman Simon Davies John Kelly Nigel Callaghan Mark Barham Alex Dyer Peter Withe Been watching Town for 28 years and could probably name a squad of about 50 comfortably! How many shoyt teams would include the scorer of the winning goal in the European cup Final Wasnt Barham an international? nigel Callaghan had good experience at the top level also. It might have been brief but Kwami Houdouto did enough to convince me in 20 mins that he was the worst player ever to pull on a Town shirt.

The Terry Austin who scored eight goals in sixteen games. I’ve seen few players play worse than Malcolm Brown did when he first arrived.

Wed a few years back, Michael Williams 1) Cheers 2) Michael Williams did as Micky Quinn says "stink the place out". On a slightly different note I thought the winger on Loan from Spurs, think his name was Andy Turner, was (despite scoring a cracker on his debut) just about the softest player I have ever seen. Stood like a chip on the touchline with his hands in his shirt shivvering as if he was about to go hypothermic. He was no Bear Grylls put it that way.

I know I sound like a right old git here... but no-one else even comes close to Big Frank in the last 35 years! Two things that say it all about Frank: 1. He was wanted by one of the biggest clubs in the country; 2. The reason why they didn’t buy him (if the rumours are true).

Skill with a football and effectiveness as a player are not always directly linked. My list of the most skillful players I have seen play for Town bears this out, most were outstanding footballers, but a few were essentially entertaining underachievers who, despite their skill, remained mediocre in terms of what it takes to be a really successful footballer. I'll leave readers to decide which were which:
DEFENDERS Derek Parkin, Ray Wilson. Mick Meagan, Trevor Cherry, Paul Jones.
MIDFIELDERS Jimmy Nicholson, John Quigley, Kevin Johnson, Martin Fowler, Chis Marsden, Lee Makel, Dean Gorre.
FORWARDS Mike O'Grady, Frank Worthington, Bobby Hoy, Paul Dalton, Marcus Stewart.
I have probably left a few deserving cases out of the above lists, but in truth, there have been few really skillful Town players in the last 20 years.
It would be possible to create a much longer list of very good footballers, who have contributed a great deal to our club, but who were relatively lacking in artful "skill". I am thinking of people like John Coddington, David Cowling, Darren Bullock, Andy Booth etc etc... I could go on.

Scott Bevan 2. Kwame Houdouto 3. Ian Bray 4. Michael Williams 5. Gordon Tucker (capt) 6. Andy Duggan 7. Daral Pugh 8. Neil Mcnab 9. Mike Cecere 10. Scott Mcdonald 11. Alan Walsh Manager - M Wadsworth That lot couldnt beat an egg!!!

Most skillful: Phil Starbuck, my favorite player I have seen in a Town shirt.
Least: Martin Booty, looked more lost than Tyrone Thompson!

Only rivaled by Iffy smacking (I think but correct me if I am wrong) a swansea player and the ref did not notice. Iffy had some skills!
