At times it was embarrassing today and that now makes 8 goals conceded in 2 games and 32 for the season so far - the worst record in the division, I think. Perhaps it's time to face up to the truth and admit that we haven't got the quality central defenders that we need. Keogh wasn't the answer but perhaps Ritchie knows that what we have isn't good enough? Why are Boothy's defensive qualities so important to us? Why can't our defence look after itself? I have been one who argued in the past that they didn't get enough protection from midfield but I don't think that's true any more. Will Ritchie be looking for some new blood in January?

I agree, Bob that we need an experienced CD, however I do think we missed Holdsworth in midfield today, protecting the back four. If he had been in midfield I'm sure that Douglas wouldn't have had the time for the first goal. 4-0 flattered Leeds, however the better team won. BTW it was I that you were talking to by the turnstiles at the Galph on the way in, Bob ;D

its laughable that the stupid board still think that we will get promotion this season..... Collins/Scoffer.... not good enough.... clarke/mirfin... can't play together.... having your centre forward playing in defence... you will never score goals.... having to rely on a kid in goals.... priceless........ they should either admit that we are trying to build a team this season (which I would go along with) or shut their silly faces....

I thought the defense didn't look too bad today given they were palying in front of a kid who looked way out of his depth. IMO the management must take full responsibility for not getting an experienced number 2 keeper when Eastwood got injured and maybe before. I wouldn't be suprised if Smithies confidence is shot to pieces after today he looked devastated after the final whistle, he should have never been thrown in to the first team like this. It's ok throwing a 17 year old outfield player in at least he can be carried by the other players to a certain extent but this kind of unprofessional fiasco would only ever happen at town.

I disagree, our defence looked pretty solid today with no real gaffs of note, they generally kept most of the danger at a safe distance - just let down by a keeper who shouldn't have been playing.
In terms of strength of defence, I'd say ours look more composed than Leeds, just that we didn't have players willing to take a pop at goal, insisting instead on passing it pretty into ever decreasing space.

I thought the gap between attack and defense was again the overriding factor. Why can't they push up or are we slow we daren't? Even when we hang back Mirfin and Clarke mark space and ball watch when they are not on their game. Up to Wed. we were doing well, why do they lack confidence after playing so many games? In spite of this Leeds first 2 goals were keeper errors and tehn we gave up. as admitted by Ritchie in last 2 games, why do we lack pride and passion, when we play local lads. Get some balls Town players, you are good enough, but need more application in adversity!
I know we'll bounce back but, this was very embarrassing, I thought L**ds were a very mediocre side and we rolled over and died.
Dust down and show the fans that you are going on an unbeaten run, to ease our fears and restore our pride.
Oh, and Ritchie show some passion, then your team might?!

always has done tho to be honest even under Jackson. at least with Jacko (majority of the time) we would see town score, which seems to be something of a problem at this season. but things may change.

The problem isnt a lack of generic ability, but more of concentration and organisation - the number of times we get hit by a simple long ball when we are attacking is abysmal!! Whilst i would agree clarke and mirf are not the best two together, they are not our biggest problems. We have worthy, wallwork and holdsworth all capable of doing a job centrally, but we get pulled apart out wide because schofield, brandon, young are all not good enough and kamara is too in and out. The wide players either have to offer something going fwd or add some balance to things - kamara was ok first half but did nowt in the 2nd, but schofield (as he has been for years!) was invisible and we might as well have played with 10!!!!
Even the most passionate leeds fan would not say they are a pretty team to watch, but the difference in physical presence and organisation was immense today and in this league you have to be hard to beat before you make progress - look at the recent teams promoted - scunny, luton, southend all teams with power pace and organisation in abundance!

well me and the majority of people on here where saying at the start of the season we were short in defense and the goalkeeping department.
we are now starting to look like we have a bit of a strike force albeit half a season too late
*shrugs* what can you do though virtually every chairman/board that have been at this club haven't listened to the fans or have done so too late
you would think they would av learned by now that we know this club better than anyone else
