I think it was & if it has been released I've missed it too.
Bit disappointing. They've had a few years to plan it.
Isn't there also to be an accompanying volume to "99 years & counting"?

Its possibly been delayed due to Stan Ternent's f*** up earlier in the season. They may release it at the end of the season. When the season ends on a more happier outcome. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

My missus tried to get this for me for Christmas as sometime I June last year I told her they were bringing it out in December. She said the people at the shop told her it would be out in January. Seems they may have had to make a few last minute changes or they just missed the Christmas deadline. I guess those who wanted it for Christmas got something else from the Town shop instead and will still buy it in Jan - maybe shrewd marketing by Mr Jarvis.

The word on the new book, the sequel to '99 Years' is that it should be out in Feb; the first chapter will be corrections to the original volume, and there has been a big debate over how big this section should be! My friend (who co-wrote the book) has (I think) 14 pages of addenda and errata, but the club want to cut it down to only TWO pages! He is not happy and is looking to produce his own corrections booklet in the future. Apparently Dean Hoyle is also unhappy that the first book has undersold. I think that this will be to do with the cost. My own book is not selling particularly well either, and I put all of this down NOT to the credit crunch, but to the fact that modern Town fans aren't interested in fusty musty old statistics and photos of players from the period when Town were half-decent; they want material from the 'NOW' period. Only my opinion, for what it's worth ... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

id imagine the cost n credit crunch will be why the original volume undersold-£30 or however much it was for a book is quite alot

I wanted the book for Xmas, for my better half, and was told it would be Jan/Feb before it would be on sale.Multiple errata to sort out. I`m hoping it is now out for at least March then my wedding anniversary present is all sorted.
p.s I`m surprised that the first book ? hasn`t sold well because it is a great addition to your Town collection.
Could perhaps do with some more publicity.

The club has over £30k worth of the first book in stock....that's a lot of books undersold!!
The new book will be out before the end of the season for definite.....Uncle Ken wants his epilogue within it to be seen whilst he's still 'technically' in charge.

What about the L**ds V Town DVD???
I wanted to buy it as a Christmas gift for my Grandad but when I went to pick one up just before crimbo I was told it had been pulled because of a clash with Ken Bates over the image rights. That resulted in one more 99 years book being sold but I'd still like to get my hands on the Helland Road massacre vid. Did anyone manage to pick one up before it was pulled or has anyone got an illicit copy?

I agree with that Sandy, but publicity still isn't as good as we might hope for Again with reference to my book, I was told that as the club wanted to stock it in the two shops (ground and town centre) they would 'plug' it in both the programmes and the official website in a big pre-Christmas push. Neither materialised, and I was left very grateful for the article in the Examiner which helped to shift a few copies both from the shops and via my website. 1/2-term report: could do better! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

For what its worth I think £30 is too expensive for what is effectivly a reference book although I'm sure it will be a valued collectors item for years to come. All the stats and stuff are interesting but we have seen most of it all before. I and I'm sure many others like a book that you can sit down to and have a good "read of" be it in regard to the modern day or yesteryear.

I would normally have jumped at the chance of buying that first book, but £27.99 was at least £10 more than I'm willing to pay, and for once (unlike all the Town DVDs I've paid over the odds for) I've managed to let my head rule my heart

Mansfield T.... I assume that you've mentioned "your book" on here? I must have missed that - can you please repeat? With regard to the "99 years" book; I was slightly dischuffed when I discovered the book was largely made up of old league tables & cross references of facts and figure well known to me - that is until I realised that I'd been around for half of the time and could remember rather too many of the events!! Still a few references gave me a heck of a lift in recalling games that I went to in the distant past. I will buy the follow up but I agree with a number of others that the original was rather over-priced (although of good printed quality) for anyone who is not a stato or a nostalgia buff to be interested in buying. Good luck with your book - BTW I rarely if ever read the Examiner - not worth the paper it's printed on. UTT

It was always going to be far too much money for what is effectively a book of stats. Whoever decided to price it at that judged the market and demand completely wrong. Ive had dealings with the merchandising dept before about producing duvet sets ,and if the mark-up for this book is what they expected on duvets, then they could sell it for a tenner and still make a decent profit.
I was going to buy the second one as its supposed to be a lot more pictorial and narrative rather than just stats, but if theres any sh*t from Davy in there I won't bother. They should leave it til he sods off ,then do a chapter on what a c**t he is.

Huddersfield Town: 75 years on, written by George Binns I think, is the best book for Town history, got some great pics of Leeds Road being built and is very well written, went out of print years ago though.

Just re-reading it at the moment, I found it in the loft when I was having a clear-out, I'd forgotten all about it to be honest.
