Some things that annoyed me about yesterday
1)
Inciting FansThe World has gone mad if ANYONE thinks that it is more dangerous to let a player who has just scored a goal to go to his OWN fans to celebrate (but perhaps lean over the perimeter fence slightly) than a player to make a series of gestures (some PLAINLY abusive) to the opposing fans.
Beckford is well suited to his Manager (& his supporters) as he can give it but not take it.
The referee clearly saw the first gesture (he spoke to him about it) and I’d bet plenty the linesman saw the groin high gesture of masturbation.
Cads walked, Beckford got two goals. Even the single digit IQ residents of Billy’s bar could do the maths.
2)
The Non-Sending offHas there ever been a more blatant should have been a booking incident?
Kishishev took him completely out.
When their taxi driver/sleeping team mate beating Manager states he was LUCKY to stay on then you KNOW he should have walked.
3)
Radio LeedsAs an exile (and since we’ve been consigned to AM) I forget just how biased Radio Leeds are.
They are (in effect) paid for by the tax payer and therefore should cover ALL clubs in the region fairly.
Did you hear the presenter (Adam Pope??) going on about how before the season started he knew Leeds would go up because of the intimidating atmosphere?
No mention of the fact that they’d BROKEN football league rules to help create that atmosphere (hence giving them an unfair advantage) and by doing so deprived supporters of another club in HIS region the opportunity of seeing the game. Good unbiased coverage from the BBC.
4)
Dennis WiseAs I don’t want to type all day I’ll restrict this to his “We don’t want them behind the goals - Stick ‘em in the corner” comment.
You broke the rules dwarf. (but I don’t suppose someone who breaks a sleeping team-mate’s jaw and claims unfair dismissal cares much about rules). I’m not surprised even a REFEREE tells you to F*** off, you objectionable waste of human cells.
I REALLY REALLY hope we have the balls to restrict them to 1,710 tickets (and also state you need a stub from another game to buy a ticket in the home end).
5)
West Yorkshire PoliceI don’t mind that much being kept in (I got used to it in the eighties).
What I really object to is the shear STUPIDITY of keeping us in for half an hour, Police being everywhere INSIDE the ground as we left, them blocking off Elland road half way down BUT when you walk past the blockade to get to your car you don’t see another Policeman for the rest of your walk on Elland Road. They may as well given us placards saying “Town Fans here” as we walked through the scum outside Billy’s bar.
6)
The hypocrisyTo listen to their Manager & supporters go on about the “Billy-gate” (or should that be Paint-gate”) incident you’d think they were angels rather than the owners of the longest charge sheet in British football.
Ask the parents of the Birmingham kid if they would rather have had a few drops of Blue paint spilled?
They’re desecrating his memory state the fans carrying their “Munich 58” daubed giant model planes.
Excuse me while I go and throw up.
7)
Their fansIf you go to Zoo’s, when you’re outside a monkey cage, someone invariably asks “I wonder what their thinking”. Next time they do that tell them to save up for a ticket in the away corner at Leeds & then they’ll have an idea.
I swear to God some of their fans spent more time looking at us than the match (unless of course it was just coincidence that when I glanced their way they had ALL just simultaneously turned to look our way). We were on the lower tier and having had them gawp at us for 90 minutes I feel sorry for monkeys (& we didn’t even have a tyre to hide in).
8)
The “Your cup final” comments.
We’re in the same third tier league as you. It was a league game.
Less than 20,000 Leeds fans vs Port Vale more than 30,000 Vs. Town.
Sorry whose “Cup final” was it again?
9)
Their Fans (again)That “If you hate Leeds United have a go” chant.
I bet when you went to Man Utd (if you can remember that long ago) you used to chant that walking up the Warwick Road didn’t you?
Yesterday (being kept in etc.) was a reminder of how sh*8te you were treated as a football fan in the eighties. However they’re stuck in a time warp celebrating violence with songs like that.
However I suppose it’s improved (slightly). All you heard in the eighties was Seig Heil Seig Heil.
Perhaps they’ll join us in the 21st century soon.
