PLEASE COMMENT ON THIS REPORT - TELL ME IF IT WAS ANY GOOD AND WHAT NEEDS CHANGING - WHAT I SHOULD DO DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME OR EVEN IF THERE SHOULD BE A NEXT TIME!
It was a very poor result for Town away at Leeds, a 4-0 loss that'll live long in the memory for the wrong reasons. A 16th of the 800 members of the new Down at The Mac voted on this one, that's 50 votes, a huge improvement on the 13 voters in the M.O.T.M vote for the Southend game. Town played well and dominated in the 1st half but then were totally destroyed by Leeds in the 2nd, while the young goalkeeper and the none send-off of Kishishev could be used to excuse the poor performance and result, Town certainly weren't up to much in the 2nd half. One player really stood out to the Town faithful, and that was new signing and debutant [glow=red,2,300] Robbie Williams [/glow] The player seems to have impressed the Town fans with 64% of votes suggesting that the left back was Town's Man of The Match. There were a couple of lads who could take a fair amount of credit for their performances with 12% of the votes each. One of these players was young [glow=red,2,300]Alex Smithies.[/glow] The 17 year old being forced to make his 1st start for the Terriers in a very difficult game. There was nothing to lose in a sense for the England Under-18 International, he was expected to do poorly so there was, arguably, no pressure. Conceding 4 goals could well shatter his confidence at a young age but 6 of the voters thought his performance merited some real credit. There was one accusation thrown around that some of these votes came from Leeds fans, intent on a sarcastic "mick-take" vote. Most sources at the match state that Smithies did alright, afterall what can you expect from a 17 year old against the technically speaking league leaders (in terms of best results)? The other player who took 12% of the votes was the "born again midfielder" [glow=red,2,300]Andy Holdsworth.[/glow] He was infact, on this occasion playing at right back! He clearly put in a good performance at full back, as he persuaded 6 of the 50 voters that he was Town's best player on the day. With 6% of votes was the Sierra Leone International winger [glow=red,2,300]Malvin Kamara.[/glow] Kamara clearly continued his recent good form, putting in a decent performance at Elland Road. The summer signing was deemed by 3 of the 50 voters to have been somewhere near his normal creative self. Three players must have put in a reasonable performance getting a vote each, that's 2% of votes. The first of these players is midfielder [glow=red,2,300]Michael Collins.[/glow] The Republic of Ireland Under-21 player must have been slightly better in his central midfield role than he has been of late, even if he only convinced one person that he was the best town player on the Elland Road pitch. The second of these players picking up a lone vote was loanee [glow=red,2,300]Ronnie Wallwork.[/glow] Ronnie's played at a higher level and perhaps this showed, his experience earning him a single vote. The third and final player with just one vote was our favourite son [glow=red,2,300]Andy Booth.[/glow] The Legend himself, always a presence in the air, seemed to provide a real threat to the Leeds 'Keeper Casper Ankergren and this earned him the belief of one Huddersfield fan that he was Town's best player away at fierce rivals Leeds United. There was a decent turnout in terms of votes today, 50 people voicing their opinion on the days performance. A poor performance overall perhaps, or maybe we were outclassed by Leeds or a combination of the two but these 7 of the 13 Terriers' players on show can atleast take some credit for their performances.
Results Total Votes - 50 (100%) Williams - 32 (64%) Smithies - 6 (12%) Holdsworth - 6 (12%) Kamara - 3 (6%) Collins - 1 (2%) Wallwork - 1 (2%) Booth - 1 (2%)
Hope that was okay, a bit long I suppose. Thoughts please!
Thanks for reading, Andy.

Can i I suggest in future that the MOM voting is left longer? I did not get chance to vote earlier and would have liked to have taken part. I got about 60 seconds on DATM as the wife was dragging me shopping after getting home

I got about 60 seconds on DATM as the wife was dragging me shopping after getting home Sorry, I'll leave it on longer next time ... just it had been silent for a while and had reached a nice round number - 50 votes. I'll ensure it's on plenty longer next time, perhaps the same time as this (10pm) the next day. Thanks for the feedback, I'll act on it. Out of interest, who would you have voted for?

Any comments on what I should do differently in future or even if I should do it in future?

Any comments on what I should do differently in future or even if I should do it in future? Is there any possibility whatsoever that its configured so that we can't see the results of votes prior to submitting our own votes, or ideally, not until the vote has reached a predetermined closed date. I know you can do this with phpBB so assumedly similar here? It really threw me that I could see everyone elses votes before placing my own - it was obvious that the player I'd deemed MoTM wouldn't win it - so should I change my mind and affect who gets it, or should I go with my first choice? (I went with my 1st choice. On my own! (I know nothing) ;D).

I think Jevons did well today, Looked lively and managed to get a few shots away. That volley would of been some goal, was right behind it and it was always going agonisingly wide.

Well I'm nothing to do with running this site of owt, I don't know if you can do those things, as the vote running guy, I don't even seem to be able to stop more people voting by closing it, only administrator's could do something of this sort. I could ask them if there's a way they could do something ... like to hide results and close the vote. Thanks for your input!

Oh and another thing - should I write it up as a report? Does that add anything? Or should it just be results?

I can't close the voting, I just write the report and then votes are insignificant in a sense .... I mean they won't go in the results ... What could be really expect from Smithies though? Do you think I should write the M.O.T.M thing up as a report or just the results bit? Does the report make it better in anyway or is it just be rambling and talking shite?

no i didn't mean that as an insult. i thought he played well but he wasn't helped by the defence. and besides if i had played in a town side that had lost 4-0 away at l**ds on my full debut, i probably be in tears after the game. (what are you boy? some kind of pansy?!)

(what are you boy? some kind of pansy?!) Well most people seem to say Smithies was decent, M.O.T.M isn't always SOLELY about the performance, it's about the circumstance. I agree, Smithies deserves credit after a difficult game where he was alright. A couple of good saves, in the lead up to the goals ... one of the goals was an open net after his save I believe.

he played well, but like i said he wasn't helped by a static defence who didn't protect him well enough. but all credit to him as you rightly say, looks like a good prospect for the future.

Yeah, what are your thought on this M.O.T.M thing ... I mean, should I do 'em in future? If I should what should I do differently? Is it necessary to write it as a report or should I just have results with the figures? Cheers.

He made a couple of decent reflex saves but unfortunatly for us and him it rebounded straight to the Leeds players to tap in.

i like it, but to be honest i just skip pass the report (sorry *looks down at the floor*). if it was a little less thorough i think it would be better. as well if you were to run it until the following day then (especially night games) i reckon you would have more people voting.
carry on the good work tho mate :-)

Yeah, the goalkeeper is the one position that benefits the most from experience .. With games Smithies will improve massively I'm sure ... Would a loan placement do him good? BSP or BSN ... Farsley or Harrogate Town or someone! Just to get some competitive football in, would do him a lot of good.

i agree with you andy. if i'm honest i much rather he goes and plays for harrogate rather than farsley. playing with a promotion challenging side would be good for him as opposed to playing for the biggest team in l**ds!

I should have probably not gone into any depth about the 3 players with a vote each and maybe just gone into detail with RW and perhaps Holdsworth and Smithies ... I'll try and cut it down next time! I'll certainly leave it open longer, just 50 votes seemed a nice cut off point today! Thanks for your suggestions ... I'll do both of those!

Yeah, he needs a confidence boost, a defence which is good for his league I suppose! On footie manager I got him on loan at Farsley for a few games ... and I signed Simon Eastwood on a free transfer ... Anyway --- back to reality! lol

Thanks andyhudd for your reply. I would have voted for the Leeds No 12 the arse in the yellow, he had a blinder for the home team! Seriously though Andy H for me.
By the way great support today, thought we sang well even when 3 - 4 down. The 'Stand Up If You Need A P*ss' and 'No fans, Sh*t ground' (when all Leeds fans had gone) chants whilst we was locked in was dead funny.

i just hope the two young goalkeepers we'll actually go on and do something in their careers ,unlike Derek O'Connor and Phil Senior (Droylsden's Number Two, Droylsden's, Droylsden's Number Two!)
