Afternoon gents (and ladies)
Myself and my brother are thinking about travelling down to Huddersfield to go to a game, hopefully before the end of the season. He used to go to Leeds Road when he lived in the area when he was a teenager back in the 60s and has always looked out for Town results. We're both Hibs fans, but are fed up with the rubbish we've been watching lately so in the boozer before the match yesterday we hit on the idea of making a trip to see the Town.
Any suggestions of what would be a decent match to go to? And anything we should know before we make the trip?
Cheers folks

Choose a game where the town fans are in the south stand. It should make your trip more enjoyable. Enjoy it lads and welcome.

;D I have some good friends who are Hibs fans and follow Town's progress closely. We constantly debate whose team is worse ;D If it's this season you want to bob down then our best fixtures have been and gone. Millwall, Cheltenham, Southend, Carlisle and Brighton are our remaining fixtures this season if you fancy coming down for one of these.
Do you still sing the Rob Jones song? He was awsome in the cup final 2 years ago and listening to all those Hibees sing Sunshine on Leith when the cup being paraded after the game was something I won't forget. One of the best games i've been to as a neutral.

The Rob Jones song (to the tune of 'Gold' by Spandau Ballet, for the uninitiated) is still sung occasionally, but not as often as it was a couple of years ago, mainly due to his hints that he wants to leave, and the fact there's no atmosphere at Easter Road these days. I would say that at present the Hibs are definitely the worst of the two teams, however the CIS Cup win in 2007 was one the greatest days of my life.
Which stand is the South by the way? They've all got weird names on the club website!

pink link... we share it occasionally with teams who don't bring many up e.g. Cheltenham and most likely Sarfend.

Its called rather embarrassingly the "pink link" and is where the away fans normally sit. However this year the new management are making an effort to get the town fans in there as it COULD be the town Kop. When we are in there the more vocal fans tend to congregate in there.

So is that the best place to sit? Would there be any problem getting tickets on the day or would we have to buy beforehand? And how much ££ are tickets usually?

They sometimes do promos where the tickets are reduced the earlier you buy them. e.g £2 monday £4 tuesday £8 weds etc. Otherwise its £20. Try and keep an eye out for one of these type of promotions. Otherwise it should be ok to pay on the day.

Spent a couple of years in Edinburgh area (South Queensferry) in the 70s & my daughter was born in the Simpson.
I went to at least one Hibs game, it was one Christmas - we parked the car & couldn't find it for ages afterwards as all the surrounding streets looked the same.
Hope you do manage to get down to watch Town.

There's a couple of lads who post on here as SNewby from Edinburgh, maybe try to find their username and arrange to travel down together?

Thanks for the offer, but it'll take me a bit longer to get organised re trains etc. Working in Glasgow until 5 tomorrow and I think my brother's working on Saturday as well.
