it was the sheffield derby at hillsbrough. both clubs had slid down into the 3rd division. kack charlton was manager of SW as i recall.
didnt mean to call him kack, it was a typo. you dont have to accuse me of disrespect. no need to start wailing your crocodile tears or ringing your counsellor. just a typo, thats all.

Yep, know that Banjo, was just reminiscing about what Leeds Rd was like when it was half full & you could stand at games. I still think it was Div 3 though, won 1-0, Brian Stanton standard goal, cut in from the right and low left foot shot, he scored a few of them.

Kack, ha ha ha . But you didn't bother editing your typo !!! I read it was 1971, not 1979. Fairly mundane point, but I was wondering under what circumstances the turd division could get a bigger crowd than yesterday (my yesterday, it's still Sunday here).

If we are looking to win the title towards the end of season, Bates may open up the ESU, in which case, 40,000 is very possible.

If i remember right? the Town Barnsley game was 28,000. Theres only Leeds that can hold 30,000 plus now in this division, but i am Certain that Villa hold the record. Its somewhere around 60,000.

The Sheffield derby, back in 1979, got the best part of 49000.
