Sky have already announced 3 League One games to be shown live www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12942,00.html 8th Aug - Southampton v Millwall (Sky seem to think this is Championship??) 5th Sep - Charlton v Brentford 14th Sep - MK Dons v Norwich Surely we must be due a game on TV this season!?

Last game on sky I can remember was the 3-0 defeat at donny a few years ago. Sat watching that in my student house with a load of wednesday and sheff u fans was not good.
I can't remeber seeing us winning on sky (apart from the first leg of the play offs at barnsley).
I'd rather we werent on sky as it would meant that the game would change to an annoying kick off time. We get the same money from sky whether they show us or not.

not true, you actually get paid extra if you're on tv-alot of times last season i saw links on various clubs websites saying they'll get an extra £20-50k for being on TV (you get more if you're the home team), and even bradford mentioned it when their game vs darlington was postponed last season n it was meant to be live on sky

Fair enough, I assumed that the TV money was paid to the football league who then spread it out equally between the clubs.
There should be a system of assuring that each team gets on sky an equal amount then (if there already isnt one). It looks like the bigger teams will be shown more. Im not sure why they dont show the town v leeds games, they must be the biggest games in the league and are at 12.00 which is perfect for sky.

Well L1 and L2 don't get many games (their main chances are international weekends or monday nights), but I think at the start of the season they choose a mix of the biggest teams n the games which are likely to be between teams at the top/bottom of the league and maybe a derby game. Once it gets to christmas and they look towards the 2nd half of the season, generally L1 and L2 games that get shown are games between teams up near the top (so for example they may choose town v leeds, or v charlton, norwich, or any other team up there, but equally you may not be shown at all-the only ways to get a guaranteed tv game on sky are to be in the championship, or to get into the playoffs-if you're in L1 or L2, it's a case of wait and see really

Think if it wasn't for Glennon they'd have easily got double figures in the first half

You'd better hope we get automatic promotion then. Or maybe not, as if we do we'll definitely be on TV

I think if we're going well they will show the derby game. The other games involve a 'big team' against someone from not too far away that they expect to be up near the top of the league.
I presume they've not announced games for that far into the season.

Nope, as far as I'm aware the list so far for the 3 FL leagues only goes as far as the Steel City derby at Brammall Lane on Sept 18th, with only 11 games announced so far

I remember there was uproar when our game was called off at home. It cost us much more than £30,000. Due to the game being called off at the last minute, we had to pay for a lot of other things Darlo where claiming for and we ended up forking out for it. In the end I think it was an estimated £60,000 loss from just one game alone.

He was subbed within quarter of an hour Most players with a sickness bug wouldn't have left the dressing room!

I remember that now - although at the time I remember thinking he was awful and didn't realsie he was ill until after Jacko should never have picked him.... Made McCombe look a right numpty on TV. Fair play to JMc for giving it a go like... Although having seen him a few times before and after that game his performances weren't that much better

I think McCombe was a steady away centre half, decent enough for a poor League One side / good League Two team a la Paul Scott – which is pretty much the standard he now plays
He was unlucky IMO to come through at the same time as Mirfin and Nathan Clarke, who both won POTS during the time he was at the club, and then fell further back when Tom Clarke broke through amid much hype (pro contract on his 17th birthday and England U19 selections alongside the likes of Theo Walcott)
That said at Yeovil that night the whole team where awful (bar Glennon)

Give over McCombe was awful! He is easily the slowest centre half I have ever seen. Watching him trying to turn was painful.
I think he was unlucky that his brother seemed to get all the talent. Just because he came from the academy does not make him any good. Oh and he is currently playing for Port Vale hardly a 'good' League Two team.

Don't know where this "we're woeful on TV" idea comes from, sure the last couple of times were bad but I fondly remember watching wins against Blackburn, Oldham and a superb performance against Forest to name but three.
Not to mention the away win at the Valley in 2000.

I personally didn’t mind McCombe and don’t group him with some of the more obvious weaker players that have come out of the academy to play first team (Hand, Hardy, Young etc) I agree he was slow but when I saw him play away at Brentford, Swindon and Wrexham I thought he had decent games. Can’t remember other performances but remember thinking after those game he had the potential to make it in the game, likewise Scott on the times I saw him play I guess he must have had something for Malchin to give him his debut ahead of the likes of Holdsworth (who’s a year older), and I suppose Herford and then Port Vale have seen enough to offer him a contract. He did win promotion with Hereford so I guess he must have something to offer a club in League Two I guess football is odd, when I saw Jamie McCombe for Lincoln I didn’t think, “wow he’s a stand out centre half in League Two who will go on to become a regular in the Championship”. I suspect Scunny doubted his talent also when they released him on a free.

Earl December and late February look the most likely dates for Huddersfield Town to be on television. Top of the table clashes between you and Leeds United, with the added spice of being derby matches.

So he wasn't released but it seems a very odd start to a career - not in the Scunny first team, loaned to Halifax then offered a short term contract at Lincoln Basically the only stand out thing he did when I saw him play for Lincoln was foul Booth for the penalty. At the time I thought Futcher looked more impressive tbh That said Jamie McCombe has had a cracking career since
