Yeah, I've got it, managed Town, first season signed Fraser Campbell on loan who fired us to promotion, then he signed permanant, but we struggled in The Championship and got relegated, then a new board took over the club and replaced me with Peter Reid , just before Christmas and all . I'm now at Southport in the same game and I've got Lucas Akins on loan and he's on fire and due to sign permanant.

yeah that campbell seems ace on it.
Well I may have cheated a little, I got town promoted (just to the premier league) only for me to do a derby and concded about 30 goals in my first 6 games and score about 4......by this time transfer window had gone, by january id scrapped a few wins but was in 18th place, again scored about 10 goals and conceded about 50........so i got frustrated, downloaded the mini scout and went mental in the january window, signed about 8 quality first team players with PA's of over 170, chnaged my season, went on a brilliant run and finished 8th!! qualified for europe thru the euro vase......

not bought it yet everyone I know has been sacked as town manager.
My mate got town promoted lost 1st 5 second season and got sacked now in charge of l***s who got relegated to League 2.
Is it better this season? everyone I spoke to says its a bit complex and difficult to play.

i dont think so, i thinks it still easy to use, need to download the updated tho as theres a few bugs in it, but not after the update.
As I said 4 seasons and I have'nt been sacked.....not sure if i wud of if i had them relegated from the premier league!
I think if say to everyone at the start that ur gunna get promoted or finsih mid table, and then u lose 5 games on the bounce and rcok bottom, then ur more likely to be sacked!

Currently second in my first season after 24 games. Frazier Campbell has to be signed, a left back called Eckersley from Man Utd as well. Malcolm Christie is worth a look at the start of the season on a free transer but he usually asks for too much in wages. A guy called Goulon (defensive mid) is worth getting on loan from middlesbrough as well.
I need a centre back quite badly if I want to stay up there. Any suggestions?

kirill pavaleychuk or sumet liek that!
As for formation i use simple 4-4-2 with my new ace signings and it works fine.
Before that I tried all sorts, nothing worked consistently till I got good players!!!
I tried 3-4-3 gung ho style, everyone pushing up one game against a big team and I won, but then that tactic was useless after about 2 games!
I found using an attacking midfielder, sometimes in the centre worked a treat, a DM sometimes worked too.

any one tried playing it using a 3-5-2
i like it but it gets on my nerves so much the game has some in built favoritism to boring 4-4-2
I wanna play a 3-5-2 with wingers but as soon as they have got no LB/RB behind them they seem to magically lose there ability to cross/run with the ball
grrr
Am determined to make it work have just got promoted to the championship (won league one, yay!) and have signed two good wingers and two good back ups so if i cant make them play how i want this season i'll not be happy

i noticed that about 442, i usually get my players running all over the place, so one of central midfieldsers pushes up to AMC and RW and LW right up to the fron line

Managed Town for seven seasons won leage one in first season stayed in championship and went up in my third season there to the premiership via the play offs. Went down on the final game of the season on goal difference in my first year in the premiership. Won the championship my first season down so went back up. Stayed in the premiership in my seventh season staying clear of relegation. After seven years my contract was not renewed depite keeping town in the premiership when the aim was fighting bravely against relegation and had brought more money in through player sales than buys.
Furious- Never playing football manager again.

This years footy manager is most certainly the hardest one yet!!! My usual 4-1-2-1-2 formation doesnt work anymore.
More disappointingly im not on it this time, was for last years though

I reckon Killroy had some fun with the Editor and changed another players name to his own and boosted all his stats I did something similar with Leeds on FM2007 by arranging outgoing transfers of all their decent players for peanuts and then they paid huge fees for donkey replacements ;D

Lol, you caught me!
Infact, I was on it playing semi pro in scotland (was at uni in Stirling last year), my ratings were absolutly terrible! Never bought, always released and the disappeared at the start of season two.
Used to see if my ratings were better at any specific skill than players like Ronaldo etc. What happend was that i looked really crap compared. Although i was faster than boothy and better at heading than claude makele, Oh my mum was proud.
Thats how realistic Football Manager is!
T'is the bible for football games.

ive always wondered that, i got into my uni first team, does that mean i could play for a scottish league team? is it that poor a standard?

Depends what position really. To get in as a winger or a striker is easest. If you can score and have proof that you can in a uni first team (depending or which uni first team obviously) then you'd have no problems stepping up. Scottish third division is about the same i think to Unibond premier division. I was offered trials at teams like Guisley, Rainsworth MW and Dinnington Town when I got back without going looking, so they must think its aout thier level.
To be honest it wasnt right hard to play in, if your ok on the ball its pretty simple. Theres loads of space to run in to if you can just beat your marker, not like local football where if you beat one you've got another 3 to deal with. This is from players not wanting to leave their marked player.
The scottish lower leagues are basically students or ex-pros, old wise heads and fast/quick/young students.
More "who you know than what you know" type of mentality to get in.
