If they did everything that was suggested on here they'd be having Michael Collins shot I'm sure it's being considered but seeing as there's 9 days to go there's plenty of time for a statement

No one who has read my earlier posts about cancer will be surprised that I wouldn't dream of donating to cancer research. All the years I've been studying the cancer issue has convinced me that these charities are a scam and the last thing they really want is a cure. Cancer is a huge $250 billion a year industry; in fact there are more people making a living out of it than are dying from the disease.
There are many natural treatments out there that are vastly more helpful than the orthodox route of chemo and radiation which are actually cancer causing! I find it incredible that the vast majority of people continue to raise money for cancer research, year after year, despite the abject failure of the industry over many decades. How many years ago is it since Richard Nixon declared a war on cancer?
Eat whole foods, organic if possible, and keep away from sugar, white bread, vegetable oils, take-aways and processed food in general. If you do eat fish and chips, make sure they are fried in the traditional beef dripping. And don't let the medics etc scare you about cholesterol, saturated fat, salt and swine flu. Ignore their ignorant pronouncements and you won't go far wrong. In the last swine flu pandemic of 1976, more people died from taking the vaccine than from the flu itself!
I don't expect many of you will heed what I have said. You will probably give a fiver and congratulate yourself that you doing your bit to help your fellow-man, when in reality you are just prolonging the time that it will take to see an end to this disease together with the fat-cats who make a good living out of it.
Condolences to the Baker family on the loss of this young man.

I'm not sure if you've noticed but this is a football message board, and the thread about a collection at a football match in support of a footballer. Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinions but why don't you find a medical message board and share them with like minded people?

My post is aimed at the people who might consider donating to this charity at the next home match. It might stir the grey matter in some before they, in my opinion, chuck their money away on a worthless cause. I don't intend to hijack this thread. I've said my piece and don't intend to elaborate further.

I think I would rather 'chuck my money away on a worthless cause' like Cancer Research rather than listening to the rambllings of a over opinionated porrly educated nut job. Opinion on everything authority on nothing. A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Well done Huddersfield Town.
Thank you to Sean &/or Dean &/or Nigel and anyone else who was involved in making this decision.
All we need now is for the right sort of comments from Paul Ramsden on the day. I hope Town will liase with Stockport as to how much or how little should be said about Carl Baker.
Another in the lengthening list of reasons to be proud of our Club.

Cracking news and a great effort from those at the club (Seany/Deano) who have put the wheels in motion for this to go ahead.
Cdfan... let people make their own minds up. Danke Schoen.

Great news. I am proud to support a club where the powers that be are prepared to listen to the fans. I am proud to support a club where the fans pull together to try and get something like this done. Unfortunately there is always one.

It's says on the Stockport Official site that they have raised £1700 so far, could be more than that now. Whilst it isn't a lot of money it is a great effort by Stockport considering they need the money as much as anyone. Hopefully we can double it by everyone just giving 20p, or preferably more, a week on Saturday!! ;D

Sometimes you just come accross people in life who are opinionated pricks, Cdfan appears to be one of these people. Even if these are sadly your views, i don't think its right to highlight your opinion on such a matter, especially under the circumstances. For such an "educated person" it beggers belief that you wouldn't actually use some common sense and keep your mouth shut.

I told a Stockport fan about this and he's then spent the next hour reading on the internet about Town and come back to me full of gushing praise for the club.
That makes me feel good.

Is there any chance of putting a Leukaemia Research logo on our shirt for the game then auctioning the match worn shirts off on the OS?
I bought one a couple of years ago after the Blackburn friendly, Matty Young's, paid about £100 for it, others went for far more.
Just a thought, could raise a couple of grand?

This is fantastic news and I really hope that we can raise a decent amount of cash for the charity. I'm so proud to be a Town fan.
cdfan - I was in two minds as to whether to respond to your post as like many of them on this topic in the past, I interpreted it as being a desperate attempt to do precisely what it was saying it didn't want to do - hijack the thread.
However, I will say this. I read very closely the previous debate surrounding cancer treatment and whilst I respect your right to voice an opinion, I think your above post is hugely inappropriate for this particular thread, hugely disrespectful to the fans and club who are trying to do something good and philanthropic, and hugely arrogant to presume that you are privvy to some kind of informed view on living that us lesser mortals are just too stupid to realise.
Ah, forget it. Werlinger has already summed it up best already.

The fact that Cancer is still killing many of our friends and family on a regular basis states to me that no adequate measures have been found to truely combat the disease hence the need to give money for RESEARCH instead of trying to prophetize as to which is the milder/best treatment.

Does this mean we should forget donating to NSPCC because they'll never stop child abuse happening, and Comic Relief because you can never make it rain in Africa? I hope you never have a member of your family taken by one of these diseases. I can tell you, it is not pleasant and I will certainly always offer a few quid in their direction when presented with an opportunity.

I had a bit of a scare myself last year - fortunately im all clear - thank god. I have never shit myself as much before in my entire life. I wouldn't wish that on anyone else but unfortunately shit really does happen.
This collection is worth supporting, and I for one would like to thank Dean et. al. for supporting this worthwhile cause. Just goes to show he's a true gent.

Great idea....cannot see why the club shouldnt do this. For one game we could replace YAA on the front of our shirt, and then raffle off the shirts. Also I hope that for once the announcer (his name escapes me) doesnt fire through the names of the stockport players. IMO the lad deserves a standing ovation.....I appreciate a lot of people have relatives pass away through illness, but not many then go out to work in front of thousands of people (esp considering his brother is also ill). Fair play to the lad

SJ has been in touch and they can't do the logo shirts. They need time and permission to do so and it isn't possible to sort it. Never mind, just an idea. Why not just auction off the match worn shirts signed by the players? Anything to make a few more quid.
