Which one has the badges?
The general vibe is that folk see youngsters come up from the Academy, and then fail to develop.
There are two schools of thought: 1. They don't progress because the coaching is bad 2. They don't progress because they are simply not good enough.
I reckon it's a bit of both.
The next thing is: do coaching badges REALLY mean anything?. Methinks in the main they are a load of old cobblers.
I.

do coaching badges mean anything? of course they do try telling that to the premier league coaches and managers how do u think they learn formations and tatics if it was a waste of time why do u have to have the badges to coach in the premier league tell you what its a waste of time going to uni to be a teacher then?

What do you mean "of course they do"? Some of us are old enough to remember when good coaches/managers didn't need a "badge" to show they were good, they just showed it with results. They learn formations & tactics (as you put it) through, experience, learning from others, listening to other's opinions. All a bit old-fashioned I guess. Just like some of us are old enough to remember that football didn't begin with the "premier League". To me some of these badges stem from the modern fad for testing everything without letting people actually do their job. OFSTED inspections and the like spring to mind. I.

Watching Town's performances over the last few seasons, would you say the players look well-coached? We continually fail to master the basics of tracking, marking and moving off the ball. Our ball retention is embarassing and our defending is woeful. I accept that the players have to take some responsibility, but I see the same poor performances week after week, month after month, season after season. The coaches, along with the players and manager, must take responsibility for this.

As fans we accept that at this level our players will have limitations, but we should be able to discern some pattern of play & basic organisation, which as your post emphasises we are just not seeing. be nice to know if scoffer has been coached how to stay on the wing so that the left back actually has some support when going forward!

A lot of you are rather silly.
The badges are pointless as most managers have them. So if they all have them there are not an adavantage if a manager has them...only a disadvantage if one doesnt.
You cant teach class, did anyone teach Cristiano Ronald what he knows? anyone teach Deigo Maradona? no one could do that could they?
And btw the badges mainly teach the managers how to talk to the media etc, rather than tactics and training.

Ronald does sound good, maybe if you started calling him that he'd stop diving? Also if you started calling Diego Maradona by his proper name, maybe he would stop having heart attacks?

The thing is Dungworth played a large part in bringing through a lot of our youngsters. I think he has a decent idea, he's been around enough other clubs to pick up an idea or two.
At the end of the day, if you go up to Storthes Hall when they're training AR is always there (as he should be IMO) holding the training sessions with Dungworth and Booty carrying out his specific drills.
Don't forget AR headed up L**ds academy for a while (in addition to managing Oldham and Barnsley) so he will have plenty of coaching ideas himself
