Cameron Jerome
Caleb Folan
Fraizer Campbell
Are they not all Huddersfield lads??
Why aren't they playing for us?
Apart from Jon Stead, does Gerry Murphy like strikers? We don't seem to produce any decent ones!!

erm....boothy?
As for frazier, I think it was a more of "Whose academy would you rather sign up for? man utd or Huddersfield Town, obviously at man u you will get tips from the likes of rooney, ronaldo etc, but remeber at huddersfield we have greats like booth and beckett"
.....
mmm, hard choice.

i dont think town have a scouting network good enough be it to do with money or whatever,i think in this towns part time leagues on a sat/sun there are some players who would do a good job at this level, when i played,a while ago now at bradley rangers there were at least 2 who could have played at town but were never scouted, same emley ,dean calcut would of gone to leic . city if he was under 25,why wasnt town in for him or others like him?

yeah he was a bit of a lad ,like their will, but he would of gone to leic,if he was under 25 for 100000k,think it also fell thru when thier manager got sacked, anyhow my main point is that i dont think towns scouting is up to scratch.

Thing is there are several of the best academys about in our region. Man Utd, Man City, Leeds, Liverpool, Everton, Blackburn, Middlesboro... They've cast their net all over our region and it's a massive fight to get the best lads in. We seem to only succeed in getting lads from Halifax and between sheffield, Pontefract and Huddersfield. It would be easier for us if we were established as a top 30 club (we are to be next year aren't we Ken? ) - we'd be able to attract more young players. But the success of Stead would have helped and if we could sneak another good young one out to be sold to a Premiership side (Smithies or Spencer perhaps?) then again it shows that we can produce and our stock would rise again... I think Dave Heagney and Danny Broadbent may have a chance at first team level - especially Broadbent. Hopefully Akins' loan move to Northwich will prove beneficial and we can get him out to a league 2 club next year along with the likes of Berrett and Bailey who need to progress as something different needs to be tried to plug that gap from ages 19-21 where the young players just seem to go backwards and can't get in the first team squad with reserve football not seemingly challenging enough - see messrs Young, McCombe and Hardy for an example. And I'm sure we had Cameron Jerome as a 14 yr old but he was deemed too small or slight of build and we let him go? I remember when we let Leigh Bromby go as well when he was a young un after he got injured...

Completely agree, our strategy of bringing players thorugh needs a major overhaul and like you say, the loan system needs to be utilised for this. Lets get a lower league side to take the risk in seeing if they're any good and make sure we have a try at a few Prem/Championship youngsters!

the thing with Jerome is that man utd wanted him when at town as a junior, but we wouldn't let them have a look in...... so he packed football in all together until his rise again at cardiff!!! town balls'd up with Jerome imo

Funnily enough, I've just played against Dean Calcutt down at Soccer city! His side beat us 5-2. He ran us ragged

How about Damien Duff - although not really Town's fault IMO
Also we got John McCombe but not his older brother Jamie now of Bristol City (I know not a striker but he'd walk into our current team)
