Jevons looks very sharp around the box. seeing the goal he scored on saturday on tv it was a better finish than first seen when at match. He is only about 70 % fit also !
hope we can do a deal to sign him, think he will do very well over next few seasons if so. he also seems very impressed with our club, who cares if hes a scouser !
lets get on a winning run v cheltnham, crewe, nthampton.
ttid ;D ;D ;D

think he would be on a free isnt he? anyway cadders or beckett to make way if we need to get rid of one, neither has done much although i imagine becketts on the higher wage.

to be honest i would get rid of beckett. he is a natural goalscorer true. but the way we play our football (i.e. nathan clarke constantly mistaking beckett for boothy!, slow build-up play, etc) he is wasted at our club. maybe if we played more balls into the 18 yard box for him instead of having him run down the channels, he would feel more at home.
i'd also say this (although a know a lot on here will have a go at me) that we should have got david graham instead of beckett back in 06. not because i think graham is better far from it, but he is more suited to the way town play.

Well, boothys wage is going to be cut in the summer for sure even if he isnt released! Maybe beckett out on loan until the summer? When the money saved from booth will go a long way for jevons? Or even if brandon goes out in january thatl help no doubt toward jevons' wage?

Spot on. Fwiw I like Luke Beckett, but the service he had was woeful. It was exactly as you say, he was mistaken for Boothy all the time. He is still a decent finisher at this level given proper service. Puts me in mind of a couple of Stockport fans I spoke to on the train home last season one time who couldn't understand why LB wasn't in our team (they assumed Pav was keeping him out, except it was Boothy (to their astonishment)), because they thought he was quality. But if it was a choice between Jevons and Beckett, well it has to be Jevons without a shadow of a doubt.

Yes, let's get rid of the only striker that can head a ball.
Do you remember before the Port Vale match, we couldn't hold the ball in the opposition half at all; which 'has been' did we have to call on yet again?!

How can anyone say Boothy should call it a day, still got it as far as i'm concerned, if his knees hold up let him carry on. Look at Sheringham, he was written off a few years ago.
If he is released those who wanted him to retire will be crying out for someone who can head a ball and hold up play, won't they?
Legend, when the time is right, Boothy will know when to pack it in.

One thing that has always stuck in my head was when Alex Ferguson said "To be successful you need to have 4 decent strikers". Now Warnock took that to another level but that's a different matter . We have 4 very different strikers and I think potentially 2 different partnerships that would work very well. The big man little man combo of Booth and Caddyshack works very well. I don't think Booth and Jevons works as well due to both strikers wanting to drop short... I think Jevons is the partner Beckett has been craving - Jevons is an intelligent footballer and dangerous when he drops in to the hole behind the front man - he's likely to be able to pick Luke Becketts running off of the ball out and give him the service which helped him bag loads at Oldham and Stockport. It's all about the finances though... Maybe try offload Cadamarteri if/when Danny Broadbent is capable enough?

Unfortunately its Beckett that has to go, reason being he can't hold the ball up as well as boothy, and although hes good in the box it takes him a year to get there. Jevons looks good , cadders has quality and boothy is still the best hold up player we have.
