In his interview on the official site about Saturdays game, AR mentioned the flatness of the atmosphere in the ground. This is something that has been getting gradually worse over the years I have watched Town (at both grounds). When we have a big game and the fans get behind the team the atmosphere can be truly fantastic (think Lincoln 2nd half, think Man City in cup '88, think Bradford 2-1 Grant Johnson and all that) but mostly our ground has less atmosphere than most of the away grounds we go to.
This is because of the fans.
it is nothing to do with all-seater stadiums cos the same problem existed at Leeds Road. It is because Town fans are re-active fans unlike, say, Sunderland who are proactive and get behind the team so that the team can play well with confidence.
Town fans wait for the team to do something and if it happens to be good then they create an atmsophere. The only time we are proactive supporters is when we have a big cup tie where we have nothing to loose and don't expect to win, add to that instances like last weeks trip to Leeds where the Town fans got behind the team in the first half.
Now that this board has 1000+ members, can I suggest that those of us who go the matches in the Antich stand get together and arrange to sit in roughly the same area to help get atmospheres going? Those who watch from other stands could do the same.
You hear players all the time saying what a difference it makes so lets do it or we will be watching 2nd rate play by nervous players for ever (as we have done for the last 25 years)
who is up for it? we also need someone leading the chants - I vote Jimmymac!

Having lived for 4 years in Sunderland I don't think there fans are any different to ours excpet they have a lot more floaters who only turn out when the team is doing well

The singing section has done more harm than good. The reason why, is that sub-consciously your brain would think that the rest of the Antich is now a non-singing section!

It's nothing to do with Town fans it's the price of tickets and quality of accomodation.
Atmosphere was always better 'in the olden days' as only those prepared to slum it would go and they were the ones that would get behind the team. The same people that are priced out of the market. These people have been replaced by more families, prawn sanwichers etc. (nothing wrong with them either).
If there was a standing area behind the goal, reasonably priced, it would be full every game and the atmosphere would be better.

Town's fans are no different to others, the problem lies in the stadium as has been said many times before.
1. No fans behind goal 2. Large 'open' stadium less than half full, like Leeds road was. 3. Bad acoustics, apart from south stand.
oh and 4. a shit team.

maybe if the club treated me and the rest of its fans a bit better more people would pay the extortionate prices to go and watch passionless heartless dross and create an atmosphere! how can AR of all people make a comment like that?... the most boring ,whelping, passionless manger the like of which this club has not seen since mick worthless grrr am angry today

Where I used to sit... and Numbers (amongst many) will back me up on this, as he sat close to me... when the 'singing section' (hardly the Kop, like) do get going and start singing some songs etc etc, someone in a bright Orange or Yellow coat comes up the steps and shouts "SIT DOWN PLEASE!!!"
Now, talk about an atmosphere killer.

mmm 4000 behind one goal or 4000 spread over 3 parts of ground,a real no brainer,if he wants more atmosphere let him tell his bosses to put us behind the goal, and before anyone jumps in there are no reasons why we shouldnt be put there.

passionless heartless dross Sums it up perfectly Fans will not get behind the goal due to the police having their say, totally wrong but that's the end of it.

thanks pal i,m always up for a sing song!!!as you all know by now i,m very vocal away from home and so is everyone else!the away games are much better from the town support and they do get behind the team....at away games as you probably all know i,m in the thick of things and try to get our crowd going and it works....now if you haven,t noticed i,m nowhere to be seen at the top of the singing section i,m usually at the front with a couple of people talking bollx ...going back to the old l**ds road days we were all together, either in the cowshed, top left hand terrace,or to the latter stages of l**ds road bottom right hand corner....this debate as been going on for years now and in my eyes theres only 1 solution,ALL OV US MUST GO IN THE PANASONIC UPPER,OR LB UPPER NR THE AWAY FANS.....we need numbers to make some noise,if we had 800 like wise fans who wanted to sing i think it would be worth 10pts a season.....but lets face it eh we havent had much to cheer about have we......only thing i will say IS MERRY XMAS TO YOU ALL AND LONG LIVE HUDDERSFIELD TOWN... ;D

well I for one will happily switch my Antich St for the Panasonic if it the only way we can be behind a goal. Anyone up for trying it for the Crewe game? (you don't need to swap the whole ST, just go to the ticket office before the game and swap it for that match)

thats a good idea, lets get all on datm to go in for one game, people would see the change and maybe start going in all the time, sadly its probably the only way we would get behind a goal.

I sit in the antich stand where all the noise is but i`ve noticed unless the drummer not around whipping the singers up with his banging of the town drum it`s flat as hell. The stewards don`t help shouting sit down every 5 minutes because that kills the atmosphere stone dead.

just imagine the atmosphere we could get at this club with a bit of drive, ambition and imagination... a few balls wouldn't go a miss either get rid of that temporary seating which has been closed since the rubbery era put a terrace stand there with a roof on it. stick the away fans in the panasonic upper and give us the other end as well you only have to see the potential of this club when you look at the big games we have had against premier league opposition and rivals etc it would be amazing... get a decent team out on the pitch... decent young players coming through...carry on investing in the training facilities and academy.... attract top players with our ground, facilities and support like we used to... ...never gunna happen though is it..too many excuses chicken and egg really isn't it... this club isn't going anywhere at the moment and wont until someone puts a bit more in and takes a bit of a gamble

It's been ages since we had a good atmosphere at home. I hope the 'Panasonic Plan' works. Definitely up for it. May even have a couple of ice cold beverages beforehand just to oil the voicebox......

potential at this club is second to none,,,,,i can see it,you can see it,and the 9k diehards can see it and a few thousand floaters can see it,,,,,,but over the last 38 years nobody as had the balls to grab this club by the jock strap and say "ey there,s a fking volcano here waiting to erupt"only in the rubery era have we nearly got there until the plug was pulled......

When Polish or BBB set up the Town v Crewe thread it needs mentioning on there. We are the 'sonic end, we are round the f***ing bend!

even better, can someone set up a poll to decide if people are going to do it, cos as we know from Xfactor, if people vote to say they will do something (ie buy a record or sit in the 'sonic) then they will do it!
(I have no idea how to do those poll things otherwise I would do it myself!)
