It's fantastic reading that some DATMers are considering becoming a Knight of Yorkshire. Let me help to push you over the line. As you know the YAA needs £7200 a day to keep the Helicopters in the air and at last night's do Paul Gowland of YAA praised the efforts of Town supporters in the fantastic achievement of raising over £120k. He also added that he was certain through our collective fund raising we have saved at least one life! For anyone that gets involved in the Knights campaign they will receive the full backing of the Keep It Up team which includes, not only staff from YAA but Mark Davies and Cammie Batten here at the Club. What's more as I am sure the cyclists of last year can vouch for, the Club will look after you and make sure you receive the recognition you will no doubt deserve. Raising £1000 is not easy but it can be split across the 12 months and can be done through a number of initiatives. And as we have said if you raise £1000 we will give you a free season ticket. The initiative can also help you - this is a great opportunity to do something that you have always wanted to do - it maybe that you want to get fit - try a sponsored swim or lose weight, sponsored slim - whatever you chose - enjoy it and make it a challenge. A couple of years ago, I would have classed myself as one of those people who sponsored friends and family or put money into bucket collections. Having done the Cycle Ride to Southend it was one of the best things I have ever done and gives me a sense of pride in knowing that I have got of my arse and did something! In simple, get thinking, get signed up and get saving a life! www.htafc.comthanks for your support

It's a bloody good offer, you can throw a couple of hundred quid in yourself to hit the grand mark, if you're a regular season ticket holder.

I just don't have the time to organise a fundraising project of my own, a prearranged calendar of events would help with this. A year really isn't much time to organise something of the level that it'd take for me to raise a grand. The best way to raise a grand would be by approaching company's... however they aren't going to sponsor a head shaving or diet, or even a three peaks, they are done so often its nothing worth doing for company's because the media generated would be minimal.

I've wanted to do the Coal Run in Gawthorpe/Ossett for a few years now, this could be the ideal cause to do it for. If I can get two or three more events then I'll definitely do it.
What is everybody else participating in to raise money?

There is many ways of getting £1000, seems a lot but when you think you could do a sponsored run or something and go around asking for sponsor money around loads of places ... then maybe do a few other idea's of your own, or even chip in say £100 of your own money... still would be cheaper than a season ticket. Obviously it depends how busy you are, how old u r and where ur from really.

There's loads of stuff you can do - be creative! First thing, I'm going to enter this: www.adidashalfmarathon.com/onlinentry/Done it before and it's a great feeling running down the main straight at Silverstone!

I might cycle to the first home game of next season from Leamington as well. It will probably be Carlisle knowing my luck.

Sean, are there any initiatives that could be carried out by a Town fan that, like me, lives a long way from Huddersfield, or do you realistically have be locally based for this to work?

Thats the problem i have living outside Yorkshire. If i ask anyone from work to contribute to the YAA/Huddersfield Town academy, they are not as likely to as if they were from Yorks/Hudds. I still think i might give it a go though. Couple of questions Sean What happens if we dont raise £1000? And for the free season ticket, is this for our regular season ticket or for a particular stand or would you get a choice (eg for someone currently sitting in the DG Upper, would they have to move to Britannia Rescue?and could someone currently in BR move to DG Upper?)

Is this done through the clubs YAA scheme or direct to the charity?
EDIT: Basically does the previous 50/50 still exist or is this a new development?

You don't have to be local Chris.....people can do anything or everything. One fella signed up last night after winning £2000 from a number of bets over last season starting from a small bet. Any idea is good. In fact anything different will stand out. And the club will publicise anything that's going on.

It's a bloody good offer, you can throw a couple of hundred quid in yourself to hit the grand mark, if you're a regular season ticket holder. It's not really about gaining from it :iconlol: but yeah, in terms of the free season ticket (which will be 'your own usual seat') once you've raised over £700 your season ticket becomes progressively cheaper :nodding: If someone doesn't raise their £1000 then so be it - the money will be received with thanks - but there won't be a free season ticket. Good opportunity this for people to make a difference for themselves and for YAA and Town's Academy.

Good opportunity this for people to make a difference for themselves and for YAA and Town's Academy. Exactly. Sign up, aim for a grand or more. If you hit it then great, if you don't then still great as you're likely to have contributed more than you would have done otherwise.

I see on the official site that a bloke named John Smith has signed up. Is he the bloke that paid for a loan player a few years back? I can't remember his name but he was a striker...

Spunker - both my step brothers have run the coal race in Gawthorpe for the past few years, they don't get sponsorship for it but if you took part then i'd happily sponsor you to do it.
I want to take part in the womens race but I can't find any mates that will take part with me - they all think i'm nuts for wanting to do it!
