Its 99.9% certainty we wont ever get the South Stand. So how would people feel about campaigning for the Lower Tier to be redeveloped and turned into a permanent stand??
A home end of our own??

Panasonic Upper yes - Lower No
Lower tier doesn't keep you dry in wet weather and if its sunny you cannot see to well - I know, I had to sit in there when we played Mansfield in league a couple of years ago when we lost 3-1 (may bank hol weekend)

it just cant possibly work in the lower stand. what we gonna do.....make a roof over it? ? campaign once again for the south stand would be good... i actually e -mailed andy watson after the leeds match about how we need the south stand so badly....no reply!!!!!! it willl never happen due to our beloved west yorkshire police...even though we hardly ever get big matches and it woudln't be that hard to escort the hooligans a further 200 yards down the road to the panasonic... ......

Why not get one of the supporter groups to work with the club and the league to convert the lower tier into a 'standing terrace' - working with the league should facilitate possible funding for this 'trial experiment' and if succesfull could be the blueprint for other clubs??

For me it has to be the South Stand for a home end behind the goal. If there was the will amongst our directors and the backbone to stand up to WYP then it could happen but as it is the only time they want to do something for the fans is when they are extracting money out of us more and more.

But what about the fans who are now in the Panasonic and like it there. Why should we move out to let away fans in. ?

The catering facilities are worse in the Lower tier of the Panasonic, than they are in the South stand. Fans will get soaked in bad weather, and we all know the police wont budge on the South stand issue.

Ronnette, fair point.
But I didn't hear too much of a complaint from Bradford City when they moved to allow Huddersfield Town fans not so long ago.
It wouldn't hurt *that* much.

If ...
...it was safe to house Sunderland supporters in the Riverside Stand about 10 years ago ...
... and if it was safe to house away fans in the cinema end of the Kilner when the Stadium first opened ...
Why is it now no longer safe to put away fans in one of those locations now?
Then give the South Stand back to Town fans

I don't see why we can't have half Town fans half away fans as it would make a better atmosphere and it isn't like there would be a great work for the police with most away teams bringing small numbers. Obviously for the bigger games such as Forest and Leeds for 'safety; reasons itd probably not be a great idea but for the rest of the games it'd work alright. It's been tried before a few seasons ago with Scunthorpe in the ldv and Northampton in the league and I thought it worked well.
I can't understand why the police could object as there are many teams in the league which house away supporters in the same stand as home fans.

You would think we had hundreds of crazy supporters trying to cause mayhem all the time. I know we do have a hooligan element? but Town v Bournemouth ect, is'nt a flash point is it. If there was a potential for trouble!! why cant the Police keep the away fans in the ground for ten minutes.

... and if it was safe to house away fans in the cinema end of the Kilner when the Stadium first opened ... you have to remember though that when it first opened the south stand wasnt finished so obviously away fans would have needed to be put in the same stand as home fans somewhere in the stadium

but Town v Bournemouth ect, is'nt a flash point is it. . I agree as there's no way the police can justify that fixture being unsafe to do it as at Bournemouth we were given half the stand and their fans had the rest of it. - And as you would expect there was no trouble... Though I'm sure they'll think of something

Pana lower should be for away fans.
Trial it at the Leeds game. Should be plenty of buffer space either side of the 1700 seats, plus no problem with seperation afterwards given that they'll be locked in for 55 minutes.

Why can't away fans go at the South end of the Antich? It would be as easy for them to be escorted to the coaches and they would have a disabled section within their fans (which I presume is a requirement). For the bigger away followings they could be given a couple of blocks of the South Stand; technically they're together so no break of rules but atmospherically they're apart so won't be able to create an atmosphere. Also, this would ensure that all the current singing section would move behind the goal, so we wouldn't suffer from a split between fans .

I may be wrong but I reckon we could have contributed to our own demise on this score.
We hardly used the Cowshed after they locked the gate between the East Terrace and the Cowshed. Everyone spilled in when they opened the gate for the last 10-15 mins.
The majority went bottom corner of the East Terrace by the away fans. Had we filled the Cowshed every week I think they would have designed the new ground to accommodate such an end.
If you think about it, they've replaced the East Terrace with the Kilner and well you can do the rest yourself.

Can people >:(not get over the fact we dont have it because not that many want to use it!! It was tried in the warnock era and only a few hundred populated it and the atmosphere was no better. As someone mentioned earlier the cowshed at leeds rd lost popularity and if there is such a clamour to be "behind the goal" what is wrong with the panasonic?!! We have a real problem on the atmosphere front because we either get a funereal morgue or a host of pre-pubescent kids singing "we all hate leeds" incessantly for 90 mins. It wont change until the team on the pitch give us supporters something to be proud of on a regular basis - wouldnt it be nice to have a rocking stadium singing pro-town songs not the pathetic anti leeds stuff we here every week at the moment. End of rant!!

Not many want to use it? there isn't enough of us to fill it. If between three & four thousand fans sit in the 'away end' that leaves four to five thousand of us to fill the rest of the ground tops. It would be like a pea on a drum in the rest of the ground

But 3/4000 will never want to use it!!! The view isnt as good, and when tried before, the take up was several hundred only when we had bigger gates and thye atmosphere def no better. As i said before, the atmosphere will only improve markedly when there is consistently something to shout and cheer about. Thats not just town - it is symptomatic of most grounds where the atmosphere grows as success is seen on the pitch!

It's easy, put the posts in front of the riverside and antich, giving us two big kops behind the goals ,don't know if the panasonicers could put up with a decent view though

You have never been to Old Trafford then? 76,000 inside and sometimes its like a bloody church. The travelling away support is far louder and more entertaining with singning. Apart from chants of United United, 5 Cantonas (as its Christmas) and the occasional Glory Glory its not a wall of sound. Last time I heard it really loud their was the Grand Final a couple of years ago and that was for bloomin rugby league Maybe its society thats changing?

Thats a fair point polish but surely the club wouldn't say that just to save the hassle of rearanging everything would they?...... or would they?
Fancy a phone call to the local constabulary?
