He was played out wide on a number of occasions at the begining of the season HE IS NOT A WINGER! He likes the ball at his feet driving forward and making intelligent passes, he'll go far i think.

I wish him well in The Championship where hopefully he will get a bit more time and space to do his thing... because, contrary to what some would have you believe, he certainly was nowhere near dominant enough for League One. He has been cut an unbelievable amount of slack by many on here because he's from Man U and supposedly too cultured for our level. Pity the same amount of slack couldn't have been given to our very own Michael Collins. When Danny went missing we blamed it on the lack of a decent midfield partner... when Michael went missing we simply called him useless. personally think that is crap about being cut slack because he was from man u, it was simple, he was much better than collins last season. can you name a game that collins played well? im sure there are a few but non have stuck in my head, maybe wycombe. I actually quite rate aspects of collins game and realise what he brings, but he had a terrible season. if he was cut slack it was because on his day he was one of the best central midfielders we have seen in a long time (not much competition). collins loses instantly for me because of his inability to even tackle, for me both your CM's should be able to tackle.. drinkwater wasnt a brute but he had a bit of bite and got stuck in. next to a combative midfielder he would do well, where as collins still wouldn't do well enough because you cant have just one CM who tackles, he will eventually get overrun. he might have gone missing in a few games, but there were plenty of games towards the end of the season where he was brilliant. he is far from the finished article and maybe some did overrate him, but thats probably because people could see the difference in quality from recent midfielders (whether he fully used it yet or not). I would bet my house on drinkwater having a much more succesful career than collins, starting next season if they are both in the championship. Just to add to that, he's also 4/5 years younger than Collins. :nodding:

Drinkwater was written off after 1/2 games by most people on here, that coupled with all the "drinkwater slows play down" threads (which was bollox by the way) and people say he was "overated" Massively underated if anything. Drinkwater dominated more midfields last season than collins has done in about 5 seasons

"can Cardiff sign him with a transfer embargo on them?"
If all is believed the tax bill will be paid off with in a weeks time. This happened numerous times last season , its getting a joke! We have signed Tom Heaton from Manchester Utd this summer after he was released so that in itself proves that the current transfer embargo is a new problem that has shown up.

cant understand the folk who are slagging him off as rubbish, Fact are DD was our best midfield player. Yes he was out for a while but was injured for a few months and had to play out wide until he got a run in the side and showed what a quality player he was.
A year older, a run of 1st team action under his belt, I would certainly have him back next season without a doubt
If he signs for Cardiff, Im sure many will keep an eye out

DD best central midfielder we've had since Kenny was sober. He was technically better than anyoldiron tho, I'd say best since Gorre.

Not exactly up against much opposition Chris Holland was outstanding - the new Gazza! I remember thinking he was class in his first few games. Remember him smashing the crossbar with a 30 yard piledriver against Birmingham

Not exactly up against much opposition Chris Holland was outstanding - the new Gazza! When I heard we'd signed 'Holland', I thought it was Matt. I was chuffed, but I was only about 12. I've never seen so much negativity. He was shocking. I bet he bottled putting milk in his coffee.
