The current first year scholar intake is apparently the best in years, that's why they took on something like a dozen of them (unlike the usual intake which is about 6)
I think there are some good uns coming through, we typically play a side with a majority of first year (16 year olds) against Premiership academy sides many of who play 19 year olds (allowed in the academy it's just that Town have a policy of not selecting over 18's in normal circumstances, i.e. Killock is older than Skarz yet plays in the academy because he started his apparenticeship late coming from non league football, Akins, Bailey and Malcher have all played in the academy this season for match fitness)
That said our 16 year olds are more than holding their own in the Academy League against much older lads - many of who scout their players from Europe and beyond!
It's really early with the first years so too early to say who'll make it, of the second years it's Killock, Broadbent and Smithies IMO
From the first years we beat off a lot of clubs to get the lad off Bridlington (Franks who's a defender), Nightingale (midfield) looks technically good but is very small, Heagney (striker) plays for Ireland youth. Harris and Pickering (defenders) seem to play most weeks
I missed the Birmingham FA Youth cup game so no doubt someone who was there will tell you who stood out in that game
There's a also a 15 year old playing in the academy regually, Spencer, so expect to hear of him in a few years
