Anybody spotted AR's comments on the official site. Our plan is now promotion in 2 years. I thought Uncle Ken said this year? Are they just preparing us for the worst - or rather lowering our expectations so we don't get cross when we are nowhere near at the end of this season? Also, transfer talk for January seems to be Phil Jevons and possibly Ronnie - no extra targets even hinted at. Smacks of Uncle Ken's ambitious plans if you ask me.

Think it would be a little harsh to give Ritchie a one-season target when he's inherited someone else's team and coaching staff. I would be disappointed if we weren't right up there next season though. For me, offload Brandon and Schofield in January. Sign Stuart Elliot, Wallwork and Jevons and we'd be a strong experienced centre back short of a squad being capable of challenging for automatic promotion - now that Williams and Worthy are fit again.

I wouldn't expect Andy Ritchie to talk about possible signings in the January transfer window, apart from the ones he has already mentioned. I don't think that would necessarily mean that he doesn't want to make any others, even if he has permission to do so. If he does, it might depend on other players leaving and in any case, he probably doesn't want to raise too many expectations, a la Jacko last year.
Worthington may well do just as good a job as Wallwork, but if Wallwork goes, we have no cover. I would definitely keep Wallwork if we can. A central defender, maybe on loan, is a top priority, in my opinion.
I really hope that Ritchie is able to bring in another centre half, someone who is really commanding in the air. I lost count of the number of occasions Mirfin and Clarke failed to win the ball in the air last Saturday. Neither of them is good enough in the air and a lot of goals have come from that vulnerability, especially from set pieces.

Definitely need a tall strong had man in the centre. We are too weak in that area! Teams don't get promotion, with a defence that lets in so many goals.

AR says promotion in two years. AW when asked recently about Ken's 'Ambitious Plans' stated that the ambitious plans were to be a top 30 club in our centenary year.
Seems someone's not reading off the right hym sheet. And if it's AW who's got it wrong, then what are those ambitious plans?
I agree, Jevons, Wallwork, Elliot and a centre back would be ideal but surely highly unrealistic. I think we'll find it hard to offload players though. Maybe Jacko will take Schofield and a few others.

Unrealistic when you consider we've just made a £1m loss certainly - but those are the areas/players that we need in my opinion to move us from average to good at this level. It might not all happen in January, but with quite a few players out of contract at the end of the season it could be realistic by the start of next season.

Maybe so but our rent this season should be a less now under "the set in stone formula" Town's gates lowered The Giants' gates increased - so they'll be paying more now I still expect Jevons to be signed (we've been short of a fourth striker since the summer), with others to come in if we let anyone else leave As I've said before though I take Town's accounts with a pinch of salt , if it was that bad they'd have taken Pearson's offer

We will pay less but it won't make a massive difference as we play so many more home games.
