Should the admins continue with the pinned matchday topic threads?
Or should 'official' match threads be created but not pinned, and allowed to float or die by their own popularity?
Or should posters just create their own threads for discussing up coming and past games as and when they so desire?

Keep it where it is, easier to find if I at home on Matchday, can easliy find what others are saying while the match is on.

It's fine how it is. Why not stick it all in one thread?

Places like this should form their own sort of 'personality' where common sense prevails and if there's a thread about a forthcoming match you join in.
Problem is though as it stands if someone wants to make a point about a certain match with no relevance at all to the 'Official' thread then he's castigated for starting a new thread.
Thing is with me though, if I see a sign saying 'Keep off the grass', as sure as eggs are eggs I'm going on the grass.

Well unfortunately Sky decided to fuck up the old Rivals site and Geoff decided to pack it in.
I remember Geoff having many complaints when he first moved to the Rivals site.
This is a new format, new person in charge of administering. Always going to be those that will never be happy no matter what is done.

I really struggle to see what the problem is with this if you want to open your own threads then do so. I havent seen anyone castigated for opening a new thread. If theres 3 or 4 duplicate threads then its easier to lock one if the admins are online and keep all replys in same thread. Otherwise you have people copying same answer in both threads. At home for christmas and first time ive logged on for 2 days and its miles easier finding what u want this way. If this vote shows people want nothing pinned then we will do that and see how it works. Im pretty sure itll be worse though anyway merry christmas one and all and a happy booth year ;D

Keep it as 'tis Might just be me but since this has gone "independent", it's a bit more lively. No disrespect meant to Geoff etc.

Surprised to see how evenly split the vote is to be honest...looks like the pinned match threads are staying!
FWIW, what annoys me is that on the old DATM, it was very easy to ignore the 'during match' stuff that I'm not really interested in since I'm actually there. But with the new approach, I have to scroll past predictions, boring goal alerts and 'yay Boothy' posts for a game thats already happened, on the off chance that there'll be something interesting to read at the end of it.
Humans are the best spam filters in the world, you can delete emails having just seen the sender and subject line and get pretty much 100% accuracy with no false positives, and the same goes for 'threads to avoid'. This new approach teases cos potentially interesting posts find their-selves in amongst the dross of not-interesting-to-me reportage of goals and people going, "whoop whoop" and questioning why the Home FM transmission went down and was replaced by a droning sound for 20 minutes.
The stats back up what I'm saying, take things as they stand, Brummy match, 38 posts from 1000+ views, Crewe 14 posts from 400 views, whereas 'normal' threads get roughly 1 post per 10 views. Its indicative of people looking through a load of crap in case there's something of interest and finding there's nothing of interest.
But still, easy enough to avoid.

I unpinned the chelt thread earlier and its vanished off the front board. If people really dont like it Ill have a word with the other admins and maybe we can remove em? Last thing ive ever wanted to be was an admin twat ;D p.s. rioja is nectar MT

I never read the pinned threads apart from on a match-day when I'm not there. I don't bother now because all I want is to see what the score is but now I have to choose the last page of the relevant game and scroll down to the last post to see the latest score. On the old DATM all you had to do was log on and look at the thread titles for the latest score.
Not really a good enough reason for you to change it but with a 50-50 split maybe give it a go.
Alternatively, with any feedback received you could just reply with a link to Skyvals...

I think Geoff should have to stand Trial in front of his peers for all his past deeds. I suggest hang drawn and quartering. [ ]

In the lead by a short neck now... aye, Ill leave this open till the end of the week(say the 30th) so that everyone gets their chance to vote. I think its an important enough decision to give it that length of time. I believe in democracy so if it stays at it is then Ill go with the majority. Personally I think it just needs all the matchday stuff(boothy 1-0 etc) in those threads and anything else about the fixture can be opened as and when people choose to.. But as I said if it stays at it is we'll let the mayhem commence

But as I said if it stays at it is we'll let the mayhem commence maybe that should be added as an option. as long as it's understood that people only get told off for not posting latest scores in that thread. Not sure why anyone needs to post those latest scores anyhow. as to read it you must have web access so why not open the sporting life update page, it's usually fairly up todate. I usually keep that open and the live scores/league table page which is always good to watch.

I find that someone listening to the radio posts faster than it comes up on Soccernet or BBC, so while some may find reading the words 1 - 0, gerrin', Boootheeeeee, aw bollox, fcukin' Glennon, etc. boring, some of us around the world who can't always get a radio connection are hanging on every word. But I don't give a damn if it's pinned or unpinned.
