Morning Yorkshiremen,
So this is where all the Huddersfield folk are hanging out now eh? Bit annoying having to register etc but nice little forum you got here I must say.
Anyway, wanted to come on and get your views on Phil Jevons. How's he been playing up there? You got him about 75% fit I reckon but on his day he's a terrific player and has both ball control and a finishing ability which will always do a job for someone.
We were chatting about him in the pub last night down here and we weren't too sure if he's back with us now or staying with you.
I personally would like to see us keep hold of him in Jan but when you think he's going to be behind Showumni, Trundle, Byfield and Brooker in the pecking order it probably isn't in his interests.
Even when he was fit and two out of those above were injured, Johnson opted to play Scotty Murray a right winger up front and Jevons on the bench!
Seems to me his time may be up down here. He'll go in Jan I reckon but whether it's to you or someone else will be interesting. Crewe have been sniffing around for a while now - dunno if they have any cash. I think Jevons seems fairly happy up there with you - key point is - Are you interested in signing him? How much you gonna give us?
Best of luck this season in that horrible division anyway lads.

'How much you gonna give us?'
Not much, given the fact that you got him on a free and also given the fact that after January you'll get nowt for him. ;D

Personally I think he is the nearest thing we have had to Marcus Stewart since the great man left. Intelligent footballer, clever finisher brilliant link up play. Devastated if he doesn't sign.

One of the fellas out with us last night works down at Ashton Gate and in the past he's been our man on the inside giving us what is going on with signings etc.
Interesting one with Jevo though - his response was "don't look at me mate, nobody knows what's going on there"
Is quite interesting as one month before you signed him up, Crewe put in a 2 month loan bid and it was turned down. Johnson said "Jevons isn't going anywhere". Then a month later Ritchie gets him and we allow to play in the FA Cup as well.
Whether Jevons himself had a say in it and wasn't interested in Crewe I dunno but they've had renewed interest.
He has a good 12 months at least of his contract left in Jan was my understanding by the way.
If he wants to go though I can't see us standing in his way - he's a good player and a decent fella with it apparently so being stubborn and keeping him in the reserves isn't the proper thing to do.
PS - in regard to contribution to Bristol City Football Club he is head and shoulders above Marcus Stewart!!!!!

Phil Jevons has said, he wants to join Town. There must be a fee involved?, but if we have a decent cup run, we might get him.
I see City are doing well, its good for football when one of the unfancied side's are doing well. All the best.

I woud like to see Jevons sign for Town and if he does not then that shows the ambition of our club. Good Luck Bristol City for the rest of the season and thanks for letting him come here so far

Johnson said "Jevons isn't going anywhere". Then a month later Ritchie gets him and we allow to play in the FA Cup as well. What happened was that Town were originally after signing Jevons PERMANENTLY which is why Crewe were turned down. Then I think Jevons got injured which scuppered the deal, and by the time he returned to something like match fitness the transfer window was closed and only loans were possible. Its always been the intention to sign him permanently and I'm pretty confident that that's what will happen on week commencing January the 20th.

All of that sounds pretty promising for him then.
Like I said, it'll be a shame for him to go as I was always a fan of him but in saying that he isn't going to dislodge Trundle, Showumni or Byfield so I'd like to see him get on in his career.
Good luck for the rest of the season.
PS - lovely to see him score against Rovers!

Lifted from Bristol City site:
"Signed two-year deal with City in the summer of 2006 after moving on a Bosman from Yeovil Town."
Surely that means he is out of contract at the end of June 2008?
