So i'm quite new to supporting Town and have never had the luxury of watching them in a higher division which means I have a question:
What were our attendances like when we were in the Championship? If we go up this year are we looking at a significant increase or will we keep bobbing along with 12/13,000 every week?

Probably around 16/17000 with bigger away followings and a few more town fans who only pick the bigger games in this league. Can't remember what we averaged last time as it was that chuffing long ago!

Agreed, some decent sized clubs in the championship would bring over 2000, the home support would depend on who and how we were playing, don't expect the hoardes from old trafford to turn up too often.

Think football has changed quite a bit since then and I'd like to think we would have a slightly larger fanbase than last time round.
First time in Div one (now Champ) we had some good crowds and think we sat around the 15k mark, and some games were bouncing. I remember when Derby came and filled the South Stand, it was packed, unfortunately to our detriment as I'm convinced their away following won them that game, one nil as I recall.
The next season I think it dropped off a little but was probably around the 14k mark.
When we go up we need to sort the South Stand as we shouldnt let away teams have it all, it will cost us points pure and simple! We should give them the lower tier in the FM or half of the LB lower like Wolves do!

Think we'd get 16,000 plus average and depending on how we do maybe pushing 18 to 19,000 average with a few sell out games.
We are a club on the up with plenty of things going for us and its a cracking time to be a Terrier at the moment. Also the difference this time would be L666ds not being a Premiership club anymore and also a struggling Bradford City side and the floaters might choose to watch Town week in week out due to the standard of football we play and hopefully the value for money on ticket pricing.
Onwards and upwards :udders: :udders: :udders: :udders: :udders:

wasn't sunderland at home capacity too? but think it was before we had the panasonic stand, seem to remember people being stood behind the goal pitchside, sunday league style. have i made this up? seems a bit far fetched really, not quite sure if we'd have got away with that.

Funnily enough, that Derby game always sticks in my head too. Their fans made a right racket and I can still remember them going mental when they scored. I always hated them for years after it!

Wasn't the Sunderland game a night match, and they brought about 6000 down, even sitting in the upper stand of the Riverside?
Also - didnt Clark play for them at the time, and dive to get them a penalty? :nono:

Biggest home attendance I've been in was against Wendies in the FA cup 5th round in 1966, the season I began my life sentance. Just under 50,000 there (loads of Wendies), at least 6,000 higher than the only three other home games with 40,000+ crowds I've been to (70-71 season). Absolutely jammed that day, unbeleiveable atmosphere for a nipper, couldn't see much though. Oh, and true to form on the big occaision, we lost - 2-1!
