We are trying to get him from Stoke in the Jan transfer window, he is on loan at the Wendie house at the moment, was at carlisle on loan last year.he is a winger/striker does this mean Robbo could be off? hope not. source. Wendies board/forum. Wishful thinking guys. Mandaric is backing Megson in January. Roberts would love to further his career at a massive club such as SWFC. You will lament his loss but applaud his ambition. Jog on sheep tickler. :terrier:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Marshall is a right winger. They love him at Wednesday so would have double benefit for us!
Could see Donal leaving though.

He's double footed, so can slot in on either wing, but yeah his strongest side is probably right. Good pace, good dribbler, great technique. He's way too good for this level and I'm sure Championship clubs are already sniffing around. I've said it on this forum before, but if Marshall goes in January..our automatic promotion hopes will leave with him.

It's all very well Asian quoting "the natural order of things" but it doesn't quite work like that in football. If it did then the Lions of Sheffield and Zebra's from Huddersfield are being pissed all over by the baboon's from Wigan. Heck, even the ring tailed lemur's at Donnie are lording it over the jungle ;D

Marshall is definitely a talent. I've seen him in the flesh three times and he's looked very dangerous on each occasion. He's got good feet, a bit more pace than any of our other wide men, runs at people and has quality at the end. In my opinion, he would be a very good signing, one that would go straight into the team and improve it no end.

To all those who for have some unfathomable downer on Gary Roberts, ask yourselves this. "Why do so many opposition teams make it a key point of their plan to double team on Gary Roberts".
Obviously he's find it harder this season. The opposition don't have to worry about Pilkington/Ward tearing up trees on the other side of the pitch. Sometimes i do despair.

I'd have thought Wednesday would re-invest in a new stadium to replace the death trap, before trying to re build a team. That is the normal way that up and coming teams or teams recovering from collapse go about things.

Do they double up on him when he's taking free kicks & corners? Still our best winger though.

Its not a case of having a downer on him...........its just realising that at the moment he isnt playing very well, and to be fair since his arm break he has been very inconsistent at best. Charlton certainly didnt double up on him - they didnt need to such was his anonymity! I dont think anybody doubts the lads natural ability, but the likes of Kay, Clarke, Mcdermott, Ward etc have had some stick on here for producing little/being error prone this term. Its the same for Roberts surely?

We are getting much more physical attention this season and teams are marking us more tightly, and Roberts is our key player so will get the most attention. That doesn't explain his poor set pieces though. I can only assume Roberts is told to put all his crosses at head height in front of the keeper rather than mixing them up and sometimes fizzing them low and hard. He is like all wingers and will have patchy form, that will include him getting a purple patch where scores a few. I wouldn't want him playing against us.

I can't see us having four first team wingers. If this were to go through, I could see McDermott leaving - if anyone would be offering money.

Why sign another winger?most people were saying that Ward and Mcdermott would rip this league up,so far they've done nothing add Robinson to that as well. It's about time they started producing the goods,or do we still have to give them time it nearly christmas! So let's get this Marshall fella and wait six months for him to come good. The season will be over by the time these guy's start to produce.
