Not so much a computer as a smartphone - but this is the nearest forum .... I think?

I have searched various forums regarding this but can't find an answer - what I have found though is a bit of contradiction.

I am trying to set up an HTC Wildfire to access an NTLWorld email account - and failing miserably!

There appear to be various port settings to try - but none seem to work.

The puzzling bit is the error message that says "YOUR SERVER DOES NOT SUPPORT AUTHENTICATION".

Being that the SSL tab is unchecked I would have thought that I had not requested authentication?

Could anyone kindly advise me just how to set this **bleep** phone ~ right from the very beginning if possible ~ or at least point me in the right direction to confirm the settings!

It works fine with my GMail account, my old Samsung UGH900 worked OK with NTL.

Vodafone say they think I have to set up an internet profile first - but I have no faith in them at all.

Any help would be really REALLY appreciated!
